If DL is closed that long, they’ll give up on it. Surely it will open in the next six months, right?

I just saw that surveys suggest about 75% of Americans would get the vaccine. That would severely limit disease spread and severity by late Spring (so say projections) and end the pandemic altogether during the 2nd half of the year.

So, I would expect DL to reopen in the spring with social distancing.
I don’t expect Newsom to relinquish his power anytime soon. DL will be lucky to open by summer.

Much will depend on whether we get 3 vaccines approved in the next month, as is largely expected. 300 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine have been purchased by the US Government. That will vaccinate 150-225 million of us depending on dosage. Another 50 million people from Pfizer and another 50 million from Moderna.

With the Oops that AstraZeneca did it most likely will be delayed. I'm sure they need to get it out to more people and more studies to say how effective it is.

What oops is that? Communication issues? While that may delay things a bit, you aren’t going to see a vaccine approved in Europe more than a few weeks before it’s approved here.

Sure gonna be cutting it close to have this vaccine save the 50th... (Entertainment wise), unless it’s already beyond saving regardless how the vaccines play out next year.

They gave about 2700 people half doses for the first injection which skewed the results during the phase 1 study. It has already been said that it might jeopardize their approval.

It is normal to try different dosages...and it won’t jeopardize anything. It may slow things a bit. It’s already slowed things by 3 months. The FDA and CDC will not stomp around like toddlers if the rest of the West starts approving this. Far too much money went into this particular vaccine for anything more than a brief ing match via Anderson Cooper.

They learned that a half dose first followed by a full dose increased efficacy. That’s very important. Higher efficacy while spreading dose around? Another trial couple hopefully show that.

JnJ believes they have a one-dose knockout vaccine but nonetheless just started a 2 dose group ”to be safe.”

Again, perfectly normal for trials. The FDA takes all of these data into account and then THEY recommend dosage and interval between doses (so you’ll see some countries say 21 days while others say 28).

Don’t read into clickbait too much. There will be fireworks in MK by 10/1/21 unless these vaccines start killing people (please, God...). I used to like CNN, but lately it almost feels like they WANT the vaccines to fail so we keep tuning in to hear Anderson break it down with tears welling up.

Trust me I've been following this one as this is the one that I'm a part of. It was a total oops that they gave the half dose. They are talking about doing an additional phase of half dose and full dose to see if the previous results were accurate. The problem with the 2700 none of them were above 55. I asked before I received my second dose last week that they are giving 2 full doses with this trial phase not the half/full dose.

The gov did say that it will delay them some since they have some skewed data that was given out. They want to know why is it that with 2 full doses it is a 62% effective but 92% effective with a half dose and then a full dose.

I wonder if all the money they’re spending on those new D+ shows will have any affect on CAPEX at the parks?

Different buckets. But it's naïve to think that the revenue being generated at the parks wouldn't have a significant impact on Capex.

The money was going to be spent on streaming and theatrical products regardless.

Yes, they will certainly need a trial with half dose then full dose. But even 62% would receive an EUA. They wanted 50%. If anything, they‘ll do the 2nd trial before full approval. The world is extremely reliant on this vaccine because it’s cheap and easy to make. An initial EUA could specify certain groups that the AZ vaccine be initially targeted to prior to full approval. There are some who may tolerate the viral vector vaccines over the mRNA ones. As vaccines come online, they are going to run into issues developing trials since people are not going to wait to get vaccinated and the placebo participants won’t turn down an approved competitor vaccine.

Well we got a glimpse of one of the 50th entertainment offerings today lol. First Harmonious barge in the lagoon! Might be the one and only new entertainment offering for the 50th lol, for 2021 anyway.

2021 is also the 50th anniversary of Bedknobs and Broomsticks, which prior to today, was just a random coincidence that I didn't expect Disney to capitalize on.

But now they're selling tickets for the UK/Ireland tour of the new stage production that starts in August, which means the property has gone from "random old movie" to "musical we're trying to make money off of". Disney has used WDW marketing as a vehicle for their musical promotions in the past (like having the cast of Newsies on the yearly Christmas special) and I'm kind of hoping Bedknobs gets some love in that form too, especially if they decide to bring the show to the USA.
