Absolutely. A quality attraction is more important than the current popularity of the characters involved. Heck, Disney hasn't released Song of the South in the US since the 1980's and likely never will again. However, Splash Mountain is a fantastic ride and still gets long lines decades after it opened.I could’ve been clearer on my post, my thoughts on the matter is it doesn’t if an IP is popular or not or if it has an IP, it’s the word of mouth that matters in the long run.
A theme park is a sum of all its part and takes many different experiences to make it well rounded. TSI and SFT are examples of experiences that require the guests to slow down and enjoy the smaller things. Each park does it in a totally different way and it’s really needed to make it work.
Magic Kingdom - TSI
Epcot - Exhbits, hands on interaction
Hollywood Studios - Exhibits, shows
Animal Kingdom - Shows, trails
You cannot just go around and tear out the “boring” aspects because there is no moving ride. That defeats the entire principal of what made Disney parks unique to begin with.
Except there's plenty of other land -- easier to use, even -- that could be used to expand guest areas. I think most people would agree that MK needs more guest space, but replacing TSI/RoA seems like an inefficient way to do so. Why replace when you can expand?
I still think the idea that all were getting at MK is Tron and a redo of Tomorrowland. Its not like they are tearing Tomorrowland down and rebuilding a bunch of new things. So it gets a fresh coat of paint and some upgrades to existing rides. In my opinion, the entire park should be adding new things. Tron, new fantasyland dark ride to replace the princess fairytale hall which was supposed to be a placeholder anyways, Mystic Manor in Adventureland and removing TSI, dry-docking the boat and adding a huge new area for Guest space with another new attraction.
Thats how you do 50 years at the most visited park on the planet.
Paving over 20,000 leagues took just as much effort as leveling the island would take.
But...AP classes don't have Twain so it can't be relevant anymore! Those two things have absolutely no comparison. Seriously...
I'll just say this as nicely and respectfully as I can - You really, really need to read more and bring your level of WDW knowledge up before you land on a lot of Ignore lists with your inane ideas and posts.
I'm with you. To be fair we may not know everything they have planned, either. Although Martin seemed pretty sure that Tomorrowland and TRON were the bulk of it for the MK. But then I think an Adventureland expansion could still be in the cards? It's hard to know. I'm also hopeful they're keeping a few things secret.
This is the time to go all out. Anniversaries. The momentum they have building new things. 2019 is also DHS's 30th. At least they're getting four new attractions.
I'm hopeful they have some birthday/anniversary plan in mind. Bring Oprah out and have her shout "You get a gift! YOU GET A GIFT! EVERY PARK GETS A GIIIIIIIIIIIIIIFT!" Give DHS Cars Land. Give MK an Adventureland expansion. Give AK The Excavator. We at least know things are rumbling around Dinoland and possibly Adventureland so maybe that's the ultimate plan? I feel like a "gift from every park" thing would be something they'd bring back to justify clones.
Those two things have absolutely no comparison. Seriously...

Some days I day dream what would happen if Iger woke up one day and thought “I am just going to spend billions of dollars on WDW because I love it so much”. Than proceeded to call in his lead Imagineers and green lights 90% of their projects. Asking them to come up with some more to try and upstage what Eisner did in the 80’s and 90’s for WDW growth. Than decide we need a new Pleasure Island because he wants to visit often.
Than I laugh at my self and go walk the dogs.
Most kids don't care whether it's Tom Sawyer or another IP. They're just happy to have a place to run around, something they can't really do in the rest of the park.No. The last thing I want in Disney World is a Fortnite Land. The point was that the large, large majority of children have no interest in TSI. It’s an outdated property. You can claim 20,000 leagues under the sea was a beloved novel too yet Disney had no problem getting rid of that.

Depends on what you define as “exhibit” Innovations, Imageworks, are examples of large exhibits. In their prime, traveling through them took hours and large sums of the day. Epcot is a prime example of what happens when the exhibits or “filler” are stripped away.
Technically the island has a restaurant which is shuttered, and the environs, Mine, fort and cave are the attractions...and they are great...It does not need a spinner ride to make the island relevant...the island seems big, but it does not have a huge footprint as far as adding an attraction goes and if it is a coaster it would ruin the sightlines of the river boat permanently...a Spinner is about all that would fit on the island, and there are enough of those already in the park..
now THAT is an idea...lolWhat if... the island spun?!!
