Does anybody remember "Magic Journeys" from Fantasyland?? I was just a kid when it was in the MK and I just came across the music for it, but cannot remember anything about it. I know it was originally in Epcot then transferred to MK. What kind of show was it? Why was it axed??

Any info would be great!!

THANKS EVERYBODY!!!!!!

Yes, I remember Magic Journeys, it had a really beautiful theme tune to it if you remember. It was originally at Epcot in Imagintion before transferring to the fantasyland theatre. It was a 3d show, like Muppets and HISTA, but not as technically accomplished. It closed to make way for the Legend of the Lion King. Don't quote me on this, and others can help me, but I think it closed due to the fact that it was quite old and guests were craving a change and Disney were keen to bring the Lion King to the Magic Kingdom after its success.
Hope this helps.

It never really impressed me. It was slow moving, boring for children, and was downright scary for kids in parts. I'm glad it's gone. PhilharMagic and Lion King is/was much better.

Yes, that was the first 3D movie at Epcot in the Imagination Pavilion (back when it was full of things to do and the Dreamfinder held forth)

I believe it was replaced by Captain Eo, then Honey I Shrunk the Audience. I think it was moved just to fill in empty space in the MK while they thought of something to do with it. Kind of what they are doing with COP and some of the Epcot exhibits.

I remember kinda liking it, but also remember it was kind of bizarre. I'm actually suprized disney developed this, not at all their style. And honestly, I would think this attraction had the potential to be far more emotionally damaging on young children then AE was. My memory on it is foggy at best, and my impression may be misleading me from the truth, so if I'm wrong please put me in my place.

I remember seeing this a long time ago, but I really don't remember much about it except the kids running around. The rest is a big blur. I think I mainly went to see it because I was hot and wanted some air conditioning time to cool off.

Interesting story about this film (for those of you who said it was "not Disney's style", "kinda bizarre", or "not that great", there's a reason for that)....

Magic Journeys was actually just a test film to test the 3D technology with audiences. It was never intended to be a permanent show. It was meant to pave the way for Capt EO. I remember when it first premiered at DL, I never got to see it because it came and went so fast. I had gone about a year without going to DL (unheard of these days!), so I missed this attraction. Luckily, I got to see it a couple years later at WDW. I had always been disappointed that I'd missed it and was curious about it. After having seen it, I realized I hadn't missed much. The theme song was good though. But the film itself was definitely weird.

The only two things I remember from this, since it was so long ago, was the kids, one of which blew on a dandelion sending the little floaty seeds flying and then another shot of a "wicked witch" laughing and sending lighting from her fingers, or something like that.

Did anyone even like Capt. EO? I liked Magic Journy better. I thought Capt. EO was sooo cheezy.

I never got a chance to see it, my firend told me all about it when they did the tests here in DL. It is one of those things that over the years I have heard enough about to actually feel happy I didn't see it. The music is one of the oddest pieces of music that Disney ever did. I would love to find a bad video copy of it, even in 3D. The one thing that makes me happy is the "Making Memories" song was done for the pre-show of it when it was in E.P.C.O.T.

I loved Captain EO. ANd if you think about it, alot of attarctions at WDW are incredibly cheesy, probally why we love them so much.
