I was driving home a few minutes ago, and saw a couple walking along the road as I came around a sharp curve. The woman was off to the side, but the man was walking in the road.

The fact that I was coming around the curve combined with the fact that their clothes weren't very bright meant I got very close before I realized they were even there. I hit my brakes hard, and I guess the guy heard my tires squeal because he jumped and moved off to the side.

Weird thing is, the song "Slow Ride" was on the radio, and I heard the lyric "slow down" as I was rounding the curve. My mind interpreted it more as a command than a lyric, so I tapped my brakes. If I hadn't, it might have been a much closer call.

You were lucky.

You make that sound like a problem.

Hee hee...well is sort of is...for some reason I wasn't feeling so hot today, so I vowed to make it an early night. Right.

I really should have been born into a wealthy family.

Goofy Grant story. The man is obsessed with turning off lights if you are not in the actual room where the light is. Doesn't matter if you've just stepped out for a moment. So Em got a new little dollhouse that has working lights...and she stopped playing with it for a few minutes...guess who swooped in to turn the lights off??? Can't be wasting those double A's...

Hiya, Amy. Doing pretty good here.

I want to know the origin of your username.

:)

It's from a song called "Tom Traubert's Blues" by Tom Waits. Excerpt:

"see ya tomorrow, hey Frank can I borrow, a couple of bucks from you , to go waltzing Matilda, waltzing Matilda, you'll go waltizng Matilda with me.."

The song is often mis-called "Waltzing Matilda". Tom Waits is a great songwriter, though alot of people don't like the way he sings(I personally love his voice). An old boyfriend turned me on to him about 7 years ago, and this is my favorite song of his. He's not for everyone, but if you keep an open mind, you'll find he's amazing. Tom Waits fact: he wrote Jersey Girl (not Bruce!) and Downtown Train (not Rod Stewart!). In fact his performance of Downtown Train puts Rod to shame.

A lot of people think my username (which I use for everything, Yahoo, VMK, you name it) comes from the Australian national anthem and I'm often asked if I'm from Down Under.

So now you know! And aren't you glad you asked?
