There's one in every bunch!
The kids all went to the movies last weekend together. Most were just dropped off and picked up. Not her son - she not only walked him into the theater, but even sat with him. My kids would have died of embarrassment!

That's just sad.
He's gonna need therapy.

She thinks she could. She has such a reputation for picking on teachers, and babying her soon-to-be 14 year old son. She even bought a tupperware, lined it with cotton, for him to carry his graphing calculator around in.

Helicoptor mom if I've ever heard of one. That is just bizarre! I so don't want to be that way with Joel - he's totally able to walk all the way down to his classroom now w/out an escort. :sohappy:

although Abby just lost her second calculator this school year *seriously thinks about the tupperware....J/K* :lookaroun

Ah.
That's a new one to me.
But very apt.

It's something I counsel myself about frequently - it's easy to do when you have a special needs' child. You do have to make sure that the teachers/aides are following the IEP, so we communicate a lot that way. And it is the primary reason I am so involved w/ our PTG... I can be there and familiar with the staff. But I don't want to interfere with what they're doing with him.....so I worry about balance. It's hard to see him as more independent, and yet I am so happy he is so. I don't know....

It's every mother's instinct to hover. But good moms know they have to step back little by little. In your case, I'm sure it's even more difficult. But you're doing it...because you know it's part of the process.

I totally understand that - I was quite involved with the kids' elementary school. But I let the teachers teach them, even when I disagreed with the way they did things.
