Magic Friends Are For Lovers But Not THAT Kind Of Lover

I don't get to watch Oprah. Except when the girls are out of school

I watched it today because it was a Valentine's Day special based on the idea that anyone you love can be your Valentine...not just a romantic interest.
A family was on who adopted a dog who had been used as bait in pitbull fighting. He literally had the entire left side of his head ripped off. His ear is gone and his head is dented on that side. He'd been through sooo many surgeries when the family saw him at the vet's when they were there for a different reason. They immediately fell in love and the feeling was mutual, and they adopted him. This dog loves these people! The family has 17 year old twin boys who were also adopted and this dog adores them. Whenever one of them is seated, he climbs on their lap...it looks so funny because he's not a little thing. The family flew to Chicago for the Oprah show, but the father drove 14 hours with the dog because he did not want to put the dog through the trauma of being boxed up for the flight...he was sure he would digress.
It was just such a sweet story.

Here's Oogy!

Oh, I'm sorry, Fishy.
Don't worry...she'll be okay.
She was just in such rough shape before....it's really breaking my heart. I know I complain a lot about her, but she does get a lot of love here, a clean bed, regular meals, and plenty of water. She gets none of that there.....

I probably told you this story before Bun, but when DD was 4 1/2 months old, my brother was in a very serious motorcycle accident - broke both legs and lots of other bones. My neighbor at the time was a pediatric nurse, with 2 very well-adjusted kids of her own. I asked her to watch DD for me (the first time I ever left her) so Dave and I could go to the hospital. I left her 2 pages of directions and called 3 times (and this was before cell phones). :ROFLOL:

 Sounds like what I did when we went to Vegas. I've NEVER called my MIL on the phone before - I always make Marc call her. But I wasn't shy about it that time! I had to know how my girl was doing!
