I am glad your children will enjoy them. But for people like me, we purchase things for our children that have true value. Things like silver, gold, Disney stock, etc.. I hate to see people waste good money on things that have no ROI long term for their children. But hey make my kids stock increase, by purchasing this garbage.
I am one of those wacky people who would also buy little plastic/rubber charms for kids who wanted them.

Wrap up a $2 piece of crap and wrap another box with a printout of an ETF valued at $250,000 and see which one your four year old likes more.

Some people like to make their kids happy. If the piece of crap makes them happy, the crap is purchased.

Happiness and smiles are the return. :)

Great, you get to feel good about yourself because you bought a computer that is made from Chinese parts, but put together in Orlando. As a public company, however, Disney's goal is not to feel better about itself or to 'share the wealth' with other US companies. It's job is to maximize profits for it's shareholders. If a US product wins some bids, that's awesome, but is they can buy good quality stuff overseas for cheaper, than they need to do that.

No...I feel good about myself because people employed on these shores got paid to assemble Chinese components which means that the wealth is spread... at least somewhat. You do not have to submit to my own opinions but I also do not have to submit to your smarmy retorts either. I live by and run my company based on beliefs that I hold true to.

Someday when the Chinese nation calls in the debts owed we will only have to look in the mirror to see who is to blame.

You don't purchase things like toys or mouse ears or Mickey bars or balloons? Geez, what fun your children must have.

Now, let's be honest. You purchase TONS of things for your children that don't have true value, just like any other parent, don't you?

I purchased "PAL Mickey" and I am sorry it the Magic band is a comparison... IT'S GOING TO SUCK!!!!! Most of the time you could barely hear what he was saying, because the parks are so loud with people yacking on their cell phones.

Wait a minute...didn't you say you only purchase things like gold bars and diamonds for your children? Only things with real value? Hmmm...

Loved the accessories and I can see myself become addicted to the bands-its. The Mickey shaped ones are my favorite so far.

OH YEA!!! More garbage that I do not want. Why did Disney stop selling things that have value? WHY!?!? I miss the fine silver rounds, the 10K, 14K and 24K gold jewelry, the fine watches... Now all they sell is things I will not buy.
You obviously haven't been to some of the shops on Main Street - we walk through those because they aren't crowded and we like to laugh at some of the prices! But there are plenty of jewelry, watches, and art work that would be considered an investment. Unfortunately, those stores are pretty empty most of the time because the average WDW tourist can't afford the box those items come in!

I'm thinking that Disney stopped selling that stuff because people weren't buying it.
I think another reason why more of the souvenirs are "cheaper" are because of things like the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique and the Pirate League. As I walk through the parks, I see more and more little kids all done up like princesses/pirates and that costs big bucks. That doesn't leave a whole lot left over for souvenirs.

Guy asks a simple questions and you feel like you have to reply with "Get over yourself."??? Switch to decaf and dont be an to others.

This. I try to ignore comments like this. I was reading in another thread (could've been this one, but I'm not going back to check!) and someone who's only been a member of this forum for a week asked a simple question, and got RIPPED on! Someone else commented something like they didn't have to be so mean, and they replied something like "This is a discussion forum. You need to have a thick skin." Well, yes, this is a discussion forum, but I shouldn't need a thick skin to have a mature discussion about any topic. You should be able to disagree with someone's opinion without throwing personal jabs or snarky comments.

Now, since I started this thread . . . how 'bout those bands??

Obviously you have not seen how he responds to others... I don't normally respond that way. But again, you obviously haven't seen lots of his posts. But I will take that into consideration next time. Thanks mom.

The bands themselves I don't mind. Since it would appear guests will get a lesser experience without them, I will most likely get one, or rather if I stay on property I will take the free one. If I'm of property... Well I guess we will see how much Disney jacks up the price for non-resort guests. That being said, I will most likely keep the band in whatever bag I'm carrying with me. From what I've seen, reviews have definitely been mixed on the "comfort" quality of them. And keeping them in my bag decreases the chance of one getting lost. I can easily see littler kids taking the bands off especially.

I would highly disagree. But the last time I check there was October 2012, so maybe things have changed. But I doubt it. Most of what they have is plated and not K. Artwork is not an investment I care to try as it is so subjective.

Agree with you 100%. I can't stand when people rip others for asking a question. Don't like it, don't answer it. Move on and read something else.

You're welcome son, don't forget to wash your hands before you eat and eat all your peas or no dessert for you!!

I basically responded to this post in my last post above, but just a little add on...

Of course the number one sellers are princesses, cars crap, and plushes, but that does not mean they should be forced into every single store on property. Disney is about offering a unique experience, and land/theme specific shops are part of that experience. Over the last decade they have completely forgotten that, and are making an attempt to World of Disney the entire resort. Head into any of the non main shops and tell me how long the lines are at the registers, it's because there is no reason to buy things in, say, AdventureLand, because there is nothing unique to purchase.
Your post has nothing to do with mine.
