I guess then the biggest difference is the computing power needed to control multiple vehicles at once in a series of pre-programmed movements. Yes, UoE's ride system is remarkable, but the tech that operates it probably isn't nearly as complex as Luigi's.

I don't know...that looks like a lot of power to me! :D

I went on it for the first time with my kiddo a month or so ago. He's 3 and was disappointed lol! Aren't there even signs that tell you not to bump other cars?? You're told to keep driving in the same direction as all the other cars, so not really a whole lot of opportunity for collision there.

Even if you did, the top speed is maybe 1/100000000000000000th MPH. Not a whole lot of impact there. :p
The look on my son's face, who was six last time we were there, when the bumper cars started was actually worth the ride. He was ready to inflict some serious damage, when the ride started he was like, "ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?" lol

Looks like something out of West World or Future World. All it needs is Yul Brynner.

I know, right?? You got to see these during the old Backstage Magic show (originally Astuter Computer Revue). Coincidentally, here's the bit in the show where they talk about how Universe of Energy's ride system works! (edit: the embed doesn't jump to a set time -- it's at 46:25 or so)

I wish Disney would build a real Delos complete with the androids. They just need to make sure the androids don't turn off safety protocols and shoot at everyone. Imagine a Future World were you actually get in a rocket and take off for an orbiting space station and jet pack around the station or go skiing on the moon.. Or western town where you can be an outlaw.

I read that tickets to Delos in the movie were $1200 a day. That's almost $5000 in today's money.

In all fairness, that is a baby attraction. However, it's also fair to say that Disney attractions shouldn't be so limiting in their audience.

Which is why it's flawed. You know you have a problem when 3 year olds are bored on this. So what was the target demographic here? 6 month old babies to 2.5 year olds?

Eh... You've got to be at least 36" to ride which is the same height requirement they have on Gadget's Go Coaster, so not quite 'baby' age.

I rode Luigi's yesterday. If you have seen a video, you get the idea. There are no surprises. Overall I would say it is definitely a step up from the tires. It's nice for what it is and the ride vehicles are a big hit. The CM's had a tough time getting people on and off the ride because everyone wanted to take pictures before or after riding, making the woeful hourly capacity worse. I noticed another car off the floor which may turn into a photo op, which would be a good idea.

My primary criticisms are that I wish they moved a bit faster, the very low hourly capacity, and it seems like all the cars pretty much stay to one side of the "dance floor" with an occasional move to the center. It would be nice if each car would wander around to all areas of the floor.

The good news is that later on I'm sure they could program new sequences to switch things up.

The bad news is that was the initial hope for rides like Star Tours and Tower of Terror. It can be done, it's just not on the top of their "To Do" list.

Here's a neat video taken from the loading area last night.

It seems like there are cars missing, because I only count 14 and the info Disney has released in the media said there would be 18 cars "dancing". Not all the cars were ready for this AP Preview apparently, which helps explain why Twitter was exploding with reports of two and a half hour wait times last night.
