I thought about that when I was watching the video. The thing that will make this attraction repeatable for me is the choreography and music, and I'm imagining a lot of smiles from guests with this one. Hopefully it won't be one of those rides that's over almost as soon as it begins.
Unfortunately, it probably will be since the line doesn't move while the ride is operating.

I really do wish they moved faster. Still it looks ok, and I'm impressed by the technology and the variety of moves in the choreography. They should have built this from the start instead of the Flying Tires.
I never thought about it before, but I wonder if this is as fast as this ride system can safely go; it seems on par with Aquatopia, Mystic Manor and Hunny Hunt. For a trackless ride built around frequent near-misses, I wonder if they have to factor in a worst-case scenario where two cars might bump head-on before E-stopping, and keep the speed safe for something like that.

This looks adorable and very clever! I'd love to know how it works. Aquatopia follows the same path, with the tire tracks clearly visible below the three inches of water. But this appears to be 20 different routes all going at once, which is bizarre to consider.

This is already a huge improvement over the Flying Tires just visually and kinetics-wise. I'm sure it will be a cute thing to ride as well. Can you imagine if they re-Imagineered the Teacups with this technology?!?
True, Aquatopia follows the same basic ride paths each time (I believe there are 3 for each side of the attraction), but I don’t see that as being terribly different from the new Luigi’s attraction. At any given point in time, Aquatopia has approximately the same number of vehicles in motion, each getting a completely unique set of commands from the computer.

I might even argue that this version is less advanced, since it is much easier for a computer to tell all 20 cars to twirl around at the same time (or proceed in a clockwise circle, or whatever) than it is to tell one car to spin, one to go backward, one to pass behind the waterfall, one to return to the loading area, etc. From the video it seemed like the majority of the cars were doing the exact same thing at any given point in time. Yes, that fits with the “dancing” idea, but I don’t think the technology is a huge leap forward.

Personally, I think Aquatopia (as dull as it can be) will remain the superior attraction. Part of the thrill is that the three separate paths seem unrelated and you're never quite sure where you'll end up; with Luigi’s, everything will reinforce the notion that they’re all linked together somehow. Luigi’s also seems to have a lot of starting and stopping (including to load and charge the batteries, presumably), while Aquatopia is in constant motion. Additionally, I can’t help but think that the big open “dance floor” will be pretty dull to ride around, and unbearably hot during certain times of year.

And as for the tire marks, I expect to see them soon in DCA too. You can even see some starting to form in the video, despite it being a brand new ride. The tire track pattern will probably be more confusing than Aquatopia’s, but it will be visible regardless

It seems interesting the way that there are different paths and different moves each car does and you don't know what yours will do until you ride (since it varies for each individual car each time). That seems like a pretty creative way to use the Tech. Someone mentioned that watching it from the queue will probably be pretty neat in and of itself.

Can't wait to check it out!

I think you are overselling Aquatopia. They are both equally "as complex". The computer isn't handling any sort of extra mental math, it just tells all the vehicles to keep moving along paths 1-3 or E-stop. It doesn't matter what a vehicle is doing, every vehicle still receives its own individual set of commands.

Part of what bores me about Aquatopia IS that for a trackless ride it really is just a common pathway and there is hardly any synchronicity to it with other vehicles. It feels like a trackless omni-mover. In Luigi's as WDI pointed out there are multiple different songs and orchestrations and times when a single vehicle may be singled out to be danced around by others. The tire tracks will be completely incomprehensible. As opposed to 3 different ride paths there will be 100.

I find the Hefalumps room the most effective playful use of LPS vehicles interacting with each other and this reminds me of that.

I honestly wasn't sold on the ride until I saw the video. Truly exciting stuff. This is the type of innovative ride system that should have been in Cars Land on opening day.

Exciting stuff and looks like fun.

It would make sense to design these sort of rides so that they continuously loaded the vehicles a few at a time. They could allow a few vehicles to split from the pack and dock to be reloaded, while the rest carry on dancing. Similar to TSM but trackless.

From the look of this they all stop to un-load, load and ride, repeat. I think capacity may be an issue, when you take into account guests who have mobility issues etc.

Shouldn't be any worse than the tires should it?

I feel like this space could have contained a Cars dark ride similar to the FL rides. Like a mini RSR, DCA version of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. DCA needs more dark rides!
I think the dark ride portion of RSR is enough for Carsland dark rides. But I do agree the park in general needs more. Two in one day? This is getting serious.

If we are going to get a dark ride for DCA is should be Mickey's fun house in PP. It could be DCA's version of Mystic Manor.
Oh, yes, please! :) I also think Mystic Manor could go where the Adventure Trail Whatever is in Grizzly Peak, if they replace the gags that are too similar to Haunted Mansion.

This looks like a fantastic attraction. I mean, just look at the details on those adorable miniature cars. It's never the same ride twice! Trackless ride vehicles! Finally! Clearly the pinnacle of Imagineering right here. Just what DCA needs. I'll be the first in line to go for a spin!

That's the spirit, I knew you'd come around. :banghead:

I've said a couple of times that they could do a new version of Mystic Manor (themed after Winchester House) and plop it next to Tower of Terror (goodbye bugs land) and you'd have a west coast version of Mystic Point (with some other name).
