I know Sept is typically Love Bug season.. I've tried not to think about it too much.. but now I am. What should we expect? I know with driving we will need to clean them off our car as soon as we park to avoid issues with the paint. We are on property from 9/15-9/27 and in parks 9/17-9/27

FL had been in a drought for the past few summers, but now rainfall is back to normal. A larger love bug infestation might be headed our way.

We need time for things to happen.
Oh dear! Why was I thinking May?

Yeah..I thought it was May as well. That has been our yearly trip first week and May and they were always buzzing about.
Never really bothered me though.

My thought is: If the bug doesn't bite It's not something to worry about.
These guys are making love not war...so it's all good.

It's actually May and September. They can be quite pesky, but as others have said, they don't bite or anything. Just make sure you have a good coat of wax on your car beforehand, and wash them off ASAP.

We only encountered them in 2000. They weren't much of a bother EXCEPT at watrer park. All I wanted was a shady spot. I claimed a chair under a tree, put towel down and went ot the slides, when I got back my towel was covered (disgusting). I guess they like the shade more then me.

What the heck is a love bug?
they are a bug that has huge population in Florida and the southern USA. basically they come out during mating season and can be found everywhere. they can cause paint damage to cars, which is why it is key to wash your car and clean the mess off asap. also i believe there is a spray for cars that deters them. they also are a Volkswagen car that became popular in the 1960s and still prevalent today :) also fun fact , back in the day, the engine was in the trunk and the trunk in the front.

They were around the past two years I've been there in the last week of September. I remember last year pulling into the Southwest gate and what is that on the plane window, a lovebug.
