love bug clean up

Does anyone know where there is a good car wash/wax/detailing place near WDW? The brushless car wash on property doesn't do the job. The bugs just about killed my car last summer.

From what I've read online, spray your bumper down with cooking spray before you head out. Makes cleaning them off much easier.
Unfortunately that doesn't work so well for the windshield.

Yeah, best way to go is prevention of the stickies. The longer they sit the more they stick. And the more you get the more you're gonna get. The smell of the smushed ones attracts more. Eventually they will break down the clear coat, too. Do the RainX. Make sure you have a good coat of wax. I never heard of the cooking spray but it makes sense. During lovebug season we wash frequently, a couple times per week. On long trips you gotta find a place to stop for gas and a wash. Just keep washin......

Did the Hess on-property have a carwash??? I'm trying to remember.....

The first thing is prevention. Start with a good coat of liquid or paste wax (eg NOT a car wash at the gas station) and use Rain-X bug washer fluid for the windshield. For removal I prefer the Turtle Wax bug and tar remover. You can apply this to your car prior to going through a brush-less car wash or use a microfiber cloth. If your car looks like the one in the picture, I would do both. There is a brush-less car wash at the HESS station at the Boardwalk.

we usually keep windex and paper towels in the trunk to keep up with the windshield and have used tar remover for love bugs we weren't able to get off right away. whatever you decide to try just make sure you do something...leaving them on can cost you your paint job.

I have my car detailed be before we go they go heavy with the wax on the front but the brushless car was doesn't take the bugs off. They come off really nice with a brush or by using dryer sheets. I was looking around disney but still cannot find a car wash that is not attached to a gas station. Seems kind of sad that they don't have one. I'll even take a self service car wash.
