It's pronounced...ma-LON-sonn. I was born in Beaumont, Tx. about 30 miles from the La. state line, but we lived in Starks, La. until I was 9. I've been in Texas since then. The funny thing is, when I'm in Tx, I have a really BAD Tx accent, but as soon as I start talking to someone from La, I start sounding like a full blooded A$$ again.

Cheers

Champagne is also pronounced differently out here. In New Orleans it's pronounced like the beverage; out here it's pronounced SHAMM-paann, both A's are short. My last name also gets messed up; it's pronounced Boo-Dro, not Borderex, or Bordeau. Kim Perez from the Weather Channel says PER-ez; we say PA-rez. The name Jeanne; like Dear Abby's daughter, is pronounced Zsohnn (sp?) out here. (the J is like Jacques)

Wally would have been the senior captain of LSU's 2003 baseball team, but died suddenly in his sleep at home last year. It was a congenital heart defect that had never shown up before. He was the heart and soul of the team. I think if he'd been there this year, the team would have won another national championship.

If you aren't an LSU fan and/or from Louisiana, you probably wouldn't have heard of him.

Today I heard someone mispronounce Guidry on the radio. They were saying the "Gui" like "gw". Unfortunately, the name was on the radio because someone named Guidry from Louisiana was wanted for a murder here in Gatlinburg.

I remember this girl I met one time with a cajun accent. She was gorgeous and the accent was so sexy on her.

Then I ended up marrying a woman with an East Tennessee accent!

My wife's accent is light...she spent several years in Louisiana in grad school, so it tempered the accent. I think her's is extremely sexy because it's different than the women who've spent their entire lives here (like her sisters). And the rest of my wife's package...well...let's just say, "hubba hubba"...:slurp: :D :sohappy:
