Looking for a good cup of coffee

Hey All,

I'm sorry if this has been brought up before (I did to a search for coffee and went through 2 pages without my question being answered so I figured I'd toss it out there...)

Now that I've been in the "real world" for about 6 months; I'm full blown addicted to coffee; I cannot get to work without stopping at dunks... I really can't.

I've never once had a cup of coffee in disney because I was never that into it before; now... even on weekends I just LOVE starting my day off with a good cup of coffee...

So, two questions really; 1) how good is the coffee in disney? I'm staying at Port Orleans, is the coffee I can get in the food court any good? and 2) is there anywhere to get a really good cup of coffee??

I appreciate it. Thanks!

I don't drink coffee, but the DH does. He says the coffee at the snack bars/food courts is ok, but he really loved the coffee at the Kona bar at the Poly.

Kona at Poly has great coffee as does the Contemporary Grounds. I know DHS has a good coffee at The Writers Shop next to Sci-Fi Dine-In . Does Starring Roles have good coffee coffee (not that instant junk)? I think they do but not sure. Couldn't tell ya for AK. Epcot has a few coffee stands that do espressos, etc. which means they're brewing good stuff. MK I'm not sure of but you can stop at Poly on the monorail to grab a cup on your way in. :)

I'm a coffee snob, too. Starbucks is my crutch. :)

In the birnbaums guide to WDW it says the best coffees are at California Grill in the contemporary resort, Kona Cafe in the Polynesian resort or in Boma-Flavours of africa in the AKL

No, wait...I do remember getting a decent cup at AK. Seems like we had left Expedition Everest and were walking back towards Africa. There's a coffee stand thing. Still can't conjure one up in my memory for MK, tho. :brick:

My best tip to start your day right is to bring your good coffee from your favorite at-home place (for me I buy by the pound at Starbucks and I know you can buy Dunkin Donuts at their shops). Moderate and deluxe resorts have a small pot in the rooms. Don't forget little 4-cup filters so you don't use the packet stuff. I bring a baggy with my splenda and buy the bottles of skim milk at the resort shop. If staying at a value resort, buy or borrow a 4-cup maker and pack or ship it down. I cannot function without that first eye-opening cup every day. LOL!

I cannot take the Nescafe Coffee that Disney has, it's just gross. The Kona Coffee at the Polynesian is fantastic, and the shade-grown coffee at Animal Kingdom is also very good.

Whenever I go, I bring my own Starbucks coffee, but we have DVC, and henceforth, a coffeemaker. I know some that bring a small coffeemaker with them from home to enjoy their own coffee. There were rumblings of a Disney branded coffeehouse in the Starbucks style at DTD a year or two ago, which to me seems like a perfect fit, and an absolute moneymaker.

Another solution might be to bring canned Double Shots or bottled Frappuccinos with you to WDW.

Same boat, I love coffeee and have like 6 larges a day. (I know, I know)

The Disney coffee (nescafe') is god awful.

There used to be a dunks outside the entry near the Crossroads mall, but sadly, it was closed the last time I was there (2 years ago) it might be back now though.

good luck! As suggested, bring the grounds of your favorite coffee just in case.

If you have access to a vehicle, there is a Starbucks at the Orlando Premium Outlets. There's a Disney Character Premier store next door. Two reasons to go! :)

Thank you everyone; greatly appreciate the help!!!

i didn't realize Port Orleans would have a coffee maker; I'll probably just bring a pound of DD's with me then... i cannot stand Starbucks; its too strong for my liking; DD's is prime though... I'm even more excited now.

I'll definitely check out Kona one day too; thanks again everyone!!!

Hello, Fellow coffee snob here.

The best cup of coffee you can get on property is the Kona press pot at the Kona cafe at the Poly. It is a 100% fresh ground Kona bean coffee served in a French press pot. Next to that is the coffee at the coffee bar next to the Kona cafe. It is a kona blend coffee (10% Kona 90%?). It is not as good as 100% kona but it is much better than the swill served at most other places at WDW. For off property and a bit more reasonable price there is a DD just off property near DTD. Just go down Hotel plaza blvd, take a left at the light and is one block down on the left.

The only regular cup of coffee I have here in Buffalo is at Tim Hortons (I agree that Starbucks' blends are too strong), and I usually go with espresso from Starbucks or another local shop. Still, I'm not an expert on different types of coffee or anything, and on vacation, I'll usually drink whatever there is just for the boost.

This past October, I had to drink Coke with my breakfast in my refillable mug, I just couldn't drink the Nescafe. Even for the average coffee drinker, it is totally disgusting and not drinkable.

I'm glad you asked this question, OP, as I'll try some of the suggestions on my next trip too :)

Hey, Peoplemover, maybe we can get a Spot Coffee to open up at Marketplace - Or at least a Timmy Ho's at the Canada pavillion at Epcot?

(BTW - Hi from downtown Buffalo - looking at Lake Erie as I type this )

I love french press coffees but they don't love me. I can drink strong coffee, espressos, etc. all day long. Give me a french press and my tummy gives me fits. I don't know why. Very odd. Anytime a french press is available always go with that. The flavor of the coffee is so wonderful and pure. ***sigh***

I've said it before...opening a Tim's at the Canada pavillion in Epcot would result in longer lines than for Soarin'.

I have reservations on Jan 21st at the Kona Cafe and I made them just so I can try this coffee that everyone is always talking about. Don't even know about the food. :ROFLOL:Hope it is good.
