Who has taken the longest road trip to WDW driving.?

I am from Nebraska, and have made the 1440 mile journey twice over the past 4 years. We left at 3:30am cst, and arrived in Atlanta at about 7pm est, and then got back on the road at 7am the next morning, and got to Orlando by 3pm that day. We are thinking of doing it again in September for our next trip, but are also praying for slightly lower plane tickets so our decision will be easier. :)

How far have you drivin to get to WDW and how long did it take.?

We are 12 1/2 long hours from our doorstep to the resort. We leave in the evening and drive all night. Yours sounds like a long haul, but worth every minute.

We drove down at the beginning of May from Chicago... Took our time over 2 days each way... ~2600 miles total for the trip... The way back was better than the way there as it rained most of the drive there...

I think the Bus from Michigan got lost....if it took 28.5 hours! That's INSANE. Lots of potty breaks I presume?

We drive straight thru from Indianapolis, IN. It's exactly 1,007 miles from our front door to the Port Orleans Riverside Parking Lot :D We do it in about 17 hours - and that's driving just a tad over the speed limit.....well, ok, about 80!

:dazzle: I vividly remember a trip that my family and I took back in 1993. We left Denver, Colorado in my parents minivan early in the morning and I recall being in the car for almost three full days just getting there. Then three days back. Total of about 4000 miles of driving. Needless to say---we now find some inexpensive plane tix.

My sister and I are driving from Milwaukee in August. Will take aproximately 21 hours each way. Sad that it's still cheaper than flying, if you drive straight through that is, and this way no car rental. We're gonna leave at 10pm on a tuesday and get there about 8 or 9 pm wednesday and start hittin the parks the following day.

I used to drive down with my folks every couple of years from Rhode Island. Once I was old enough to drive we drove straight through - about 24 hours.

I've got a couple of little rug rats now so its back to flying for a while (24 hours in the car would be insane). Hope to do the drive again in the future...

180 miles to South of the Border...

My family used to drive all the time when we were rugrats... My Mom would keep us up all night and my Dad would sleep... Around 3 she'd wake him up and we would leave... Within a couple of minutes from the house all us kids would pass out (Not being used to being up past 10, much less 3 AM)... That way 1/3-1/2 the drive was done while we were sleeping...

Try DL to WDW in 4 days!!

DL to El Paso
El Paso to Outside Houston
Houston to Pensicola
Pensicola to WDW

(about driving 12 hours a day with no kids!!)
One could probably make it from WDW to New Orleans if you started early and didnt take long breaks. (I know people who have driven straight thru switching drivers and arriving in 48 hrs)

Done it twice now (before gas prices went up). Its great doing it in a rental car not miles on my own car. To eat BBQ in TEXAS one day then the next to have all you can eat crab legs at Biloxis casinos!!

Also to stop at the entry station in FL. off of Ints. 10 and have free FL O.J. is the best!

What sucks are the chain hotels and the confusion/scam of what the difference is between a full to a queen and a queen to king sized bed.

woops forgot that I drove from D.C. to Orlando in ONE DAY down I-95 and was hauling a Ryder moving truck with a car trailer behind it! (left at 3:00am and pulled into WDW at 7:00pm)

What was great was visiting "South of the Border" in S.C.

Wow what a tourist trap, and I thoght that International Drive was a trap! They even proclaimed that you could get married and spend the night in their "honnymoon" suite... mirrors and all!

Though at the time 2 years ago...gas in Georgia/FL at the state border was .99 a gallon! good thing my friend was paying for gas!

Don't you just love those signs? We start counting them (around 200 southbound) and we know we are "getting close". We always get out & stretch our legs. Cheesy tourist trap, but a habit.

We fly twice during the year and drive once in the summer because we are usually travel ot of people who are afraid to fly or don't have the $$ to fly. We also pass South of the Border to and from WDW and love reading the billboards, one of our favorites is "Pedro Says It's a Smash Hit" with a smashed car on billboard. That is one thing you don't want to see on I-95. We actually stayed there one time and let me tell you, what a cheesy hotel it is. carpet, water bed, a bidet in bathroom that one of the kids thought was a water fountain-YUCK:hurl: And the ashtrays were bolted down to the tables, like that is a problem. Now everytime we pass the giant sombraro we honk our horn and yell ADIOS PEDRO! Anyway, our drive is about 16 hours, we start at midnight stop around 1:00 in the afternoon to recharge our batteries at the pool at a hotel in Savannah, Ga, then it is another 5 hours from there to WDW. 42 days until next trip:sohappy:

We drive from southern PA, and I believe our best time is something like 11 hours. I can't say exactly because I sleep most of the time
