Long Line Memories and Line Etiquette, Your Worst Line Experiences

I have a line jumping story that happened right after the 7DMT opened. You all know how difficult it was to get a fast pass for that one!
We got a fast pass and were in the longish fp line where it curved out of the "street" and into the path. Out of nowhere this young blonde girl pushed in front of us smiling at us the whole time. I said do you know the line starts there (pointing way back). She smiled and said yes I do, and turned around like nothing had happened. We were so surprised that we just didn't know what to do. I guess since it was one person we let it go. I now wish we had told the CM, but honestly, we didn't know you could do that and that the CM would believe you. Now I will not hesitate to notify the CM of jumpers.
As far as the open staging areas (holding pens?) at certain attractions, we always move up to fill in the places. If the CM tells everyone to please fill in all the spaces, then that is what we do. We have never had anyone say anything to us. And what could they say? They had the same opportunity to move up just like the CM wanted. Afterall, there is a reason that they ask everyone to fill in all the spaces.

A handful of years ago my daughter and I were in line for Haunted Mansion. The park had just opened, so there wasn’t much of a line. The group in front of us was obviously on a family vacation, matching shirts and all. At the beginning there were four people. Then three more came up behind us and asked to go with their family. No problem. Like I said, the park had just opened so there really wasn’t much of a line yet.

Then two more came. Then three more. So now we’re up to twelve people. It’s kind of annoying, but the line is moving quickly and it’s not bothering me too much. Then two more come. Now I’m thinking “this is getting kind of ridiculous“. And then a man comes up, same family vacation shirt, obviously the father. He asks if he can get past to be with his family. I put my hand up, look him in the eyes and say “I’m sorry. I’ve let enough of your family past. You can stay here and be part of our family now”.

He’s looking at me with a “how do I respond to that” expression while I’m looking straight at him, stone faced. After about twenty seconds I smile and say “it’s ok, man. Go ahead” and let him pass.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned this yet, but here goes. Maybe it's not an issue anymore.

But back in the day, if you were waiting in line and you suddenly saw a large group of young people from a certain country, all wearing the same shirt, heading towards your line... well, I won't go on, but to say what followed was usually not an ideal Disney park experience.
If by back in the day you mean this morning, then yes most definitely.

I forget the ride, but this lady with a rental stroller would just not stop clipping my ankles while waiting in line at Animal Kingdom. Once, twice, thrice, fine... just accidents so I no-sold it. Fourth and fifth times I started selling and looking at my ankle. Somehow it continued, even when the line was not moving. I went full turn around and gave the stink eye. Not a word of apology. What must have been around the ninth time or so it happens again, I turn around about to speak and she finally mumbles a quick sorry and switches places with her husband. I still cant believe it.

It's hard to get me mad, especially at DW, but she was trying her best.

Anytime anyone does this - with a stroller or bumping into us - I just say something like “you seem to be in a hurry, would you like to switch places with us?” They always say no and cut it out.

We were in line for RRC and had already had a few come past us saying they were catching up to the rest of their group. Then, 2 guys behind us attempted to climb a wall to meet their friends and cut in front of us and a bunch of other people. Before they could reach the wall, I grabbed one and told him if he tried to climb that wall I was gonna snatch him off of it and beat his . Maybe a little harsh, but we had been dealing with line cutters all day and I was done. They stayed put.

I don't get the line cutters. Truly. How have they not been taught "wait your turn"? My children understand that. Sometimes I feel like they need CM along the queue just so this stuff is dealt with. When you are in line for an hour, chances are those people are long gone.

They do not. True story: in about 2017 my father and I went to Disneyland and headed for It's a Small World. It was soon after opening and there were about 15 people ahead of us waiting to board. Ahead of us a young couple was busy taking photos, so we stopped so as not to accidentally photo bomb them and they said "no, no, go ahead" so we did with a thank you. Some gal about 35 or so comes barreling up behind us and just right past us without a word. She ended up in the row ahead of us. I was like "really? Line jumping to get the row ahead of us? Really? When it's an empty queue? "

90+ degree day at DW. Lines were long....everywhere. It was midday so the sun was baking. We were walking towards the Buzz Lightyear standby line which snaked around the side of the building. It was one of those days where you were dodging people left and right every two feet. All of a sudden I almost got taken down by a force that took my legs out from my blind left side. It was a young woman on a jazzy scooter who was texting on her cell phone and managed to ram me. She gave me a look like I was wrong. I was in the Happiest Place on Earth so I held back on what I really wanted to say. I watched her drive to the stroller area, park her scooter, and quite normally, walk to the fast pass line to meet her party.

Think Tink, trust me, there was no cutting in the Anna & Elsa situation. True, it might have interfered w/a head count, but there did not appear to be one. I do not recall any CMs out at the totally outdoor line that wound round. It was awful and I was a fool to stay in it. No one in the line cared if one person stayed in it, while others wandered off. I think we agreed silently, we were all in the same boat. I did not have a hat on and remember thinking, is anyone else bothered by this sun? I have back issues and I always tend to overdo. I never really what is too much, till it is too late. This was one of those situations. It was like I was possessed. From the moment I got wind that the wait was that long, I was determined to do it! My daughter would have skipped it from the start.

Yes, it was a much different situation than any other Disney line I have seen before and since. And it wasn't like it was really the line, it was the line just to get into the line. I normally would agree that is not the correct thing, but as you said, everyone was doing it.

And with meet & greets, it's not individual spaces, it is a group at a time that goes in and meets. Sure a few extra people can maybe take a few extra pictures so it is longer. But I've seen group of 3 take twice as long as a group of 8, just depends on the people more than the size of the group.

If you're standing in a long line and people in your party need to exit briefly to use the restroom or get a drink (especially if there are young children in the party, who can't always just "hold it," or older folks who have trouble stranding for long periods), I'm cool with that. I do recommend that the "leavers" explain themselves politely to the people behind them as they step out, so those people will remember when they return that they were already in line, and wont' think they're cutting.

The only time I have an issue is when you've got one person holding a spot for 6 or 8 or 20 people, who never joined the line in the first place and who just plan to shove their way to the front at the last minute, ignoring the protests of others by pretending not to know etiquette, or English, or both. Thankfully, it hasn't happened to me that often (probably because I'm such an impatient person that I'll move heaven and earth to avoid getting in a long line in the first place!) ;)

in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't happen much. The line jumpers are few and far between.

its the snack grabbers that annoy me. you can usually remember when somebody walks past you to leave the queue, however when they appear in the queue looking for their family with a load of a snacks. that annoys me. Its Blatant line jumping/saving and the family should be removed from line.

I think a change need to happen in pre-show rooms. Almost every single time there are people that push past to get to the door so they can get in line first. I get you are sent in as a group, but there should still be a semblance of order. Yet every time some entitled jackwads decides since they know where the door is they are going to push through to stand there no matter what. Look, if I'm in the room early, yes I will go stand near the door. But I don't push past everyone just to do it.

On ToT one time we were the first ones in and stood by the door, but not like with my back against it. And 3 people come in at the end of the group and cut through the crowd to get to the door. There wasn't enough room for all three but one cut past me to be actually touching the door while the other two stood in front of me just so they can get out of the room fist.

I see that almost in every ride that does that. HM, Dinosaur, RnRC. Even see people on TT try to cut to the door after their design is done, but they get sent back because there is a CM in the room. People need to just wait their damn turn.

We can't say Brazilian tour groups now? Is it bad to say Brazilian tour groups? What's wrong with saying Brazilian tour groups? :D
I can't be too quiet-the Brazilian tour group chanting is too loud.

I get that these can be a little over the top sometimes (okay, maybe more than a little?😁 ), but tbh, the most obnoxious and irritating people at WDW these days are the throngs of American mouth-breathers who don't know how to act in public.
