^^sounds good

Here's a very quick and crude sketch of what I was talking about. With this type of design, we'd probably be able to include an aspect of every idea mentioned, and we may be able to add some rides that a Main Street wouldn't normally have...

picture.php

And the posibilites are endless too! We could include a Hollywood Blvd, we could include a New Orleans St, a New York St, etc while still keeping the original small town Main Street USA in place... (Obviously we'd have to choose only a few lol)

Yes
Good ideas so far, guys. Just make sure that you primarily work on the Main Street portions of your land. You may present the other side-streets to the Board of Directors, but you would be well-advised to hold off on working on the other "sub-lands".

Idea for main street...

One thing I've witnessed, ( if anyone else has add in ) is that the streets are sometimes too small in big crowds. My idea is that maybe we increase the width of the Main Street. Not a lot, enough, for that one a very crowded day, not everyone is breathing down your neck.

Just an idea, easy to add on to any other idea.

Another Idea to Co-Exist

Going along with Comics101, I believe I have a small attraction that we can tie in with his idea of combined streets, ( ie, liberty street etc )

I also read the idea of making a mock independence hall.

Heres my idea. Somewhere in the new Main Street, we build a miniature "Great Places in America" attraction. This is not an attraction, simply a plot of land that we build small models of, well, great places in america. Meaning, landmarks, and tributes.

Like, some ideas
-The White House
-Independence Hall
-The Arch
-Statue of Liberty
-etc,

These models wouldn't be huge, maybe a little bigger than the average person. It wouldn't take up a lot of room, and would perfectly fit in the new map , comics had made.

Please feedback, and comments!!

Quick sketch on it's way...

But basically like a circle with statue of liberty in the middle, and all other monuments around it. Walking room between monuments and liberty.!!!

Feedback!!!

Thanks!,
I really think this could work being that the space it occupy is very minimal.
Thanks for the list and feedback!

I like the idea...spaceship earth is not a great landmark in the national sense in my opinon...but whatever Idc really haha! It is for all of us Disney fanatics!!

And BTW I'm thinking about making a blog for our team so it would be easier to share/comment on ideas and etc? Anybody interested?

haha not to be a stickler, but it sounds like we aren't supposed to work on sublands...

With that said, I do think the landmark idea is awesome though! What if we expanded it further and made it a "Small World" style ride??? Showing of different regions of America but done in the Mary Blair style? Also for Liberty Street/Square/whatever, I think it'd be awesome to have a ride or show very similar to the short Ben & Me, but maybe about the founding of the nation. Maybe it could replace HoP...

Rather than expanding the street, what if we do something like they have in Paris, where because of the cold, they've added themed "hallway" type structures behind each building on Main St. It's almost like a mall. I'll see if I can find some pics...

Here are some pics...

Discovery Arcade- http://www.photosmagiques.com/gallery/disneyland_park/main_street_usa/discovery_arcade.php

Liberty Arcade- http://www.photosmagiques.com/gallery/disneyland_park/main_street_usa/liberty_arcade.php

edit: They call them "Arcades". Really, they're sorta shortcuts to Frontierland/Discoveryland, but they're heated/airconditioned. I know I said they're behind the buildings, but I think I lied hahaha. I'm actually not 100% sure where they're located, but I don't see why they couldn't be located behind buildings... Of course each would be themed according to which side they're on. For example, the one closest to Liberty Street would be themed similar to the Liberty Arcade in DLP...

I'm also thinking, that if we were to include these, rather than models of famous landmarks what if we made "look out points" along the hall way with what appeared to be a full scare replica. So you could walk onto a balcony and see all of the mall in Washington DC right in front of your face... Does that make sense??

Yeah, I'm liking both of these idea's.
1. The covered sections, great thinking.
2. The small world type ride and look out points are great!!
However, can we do both or do we need just one idea?

B/c I kinda like the look out idea...

I think we can do whatever we want, it's just we're only alowed 35 rides, so we have to choose where we place them carefully. Although I wonder if the look out idea would be considered a ride... Idk. anywho...

Small World Type....

I don't think the look out would be considered a ride, but only small world would......
I still don't know what type we should choose???

Oh, well, I'll have something to consider tonight....

haha yeah... I've been thinking though, this is coming together really nicely. The entire land is being tied together as "America", small town America-Main Street, 1776-Liberty Street (leading to the 1800's-Frotierland), the melting pot/early1900's(Ellis Island)-International Street, the turn of the century inventors-Edison Square... I'm thinkin this will work out perfectly.

So essentially, what we'll have is the actual Main Street USA which will be very similar to other Main St's around the globe. At the end of Main Street stands the Carousel Theatre, featuring a newly refurbished CoP (I'm thinkin we should try and make the story line more about America, to tie it into the land, then there can be a post show about Walt's patriotism...). Behind the Main Street facades you'll find tunnels (still need names). On the right side, the Liberty tunnel, where you'll find dioramas of famous American landmarks, perhaps we'll make a show too...this tunnel will lead you to Liberty Square. On the left side, something about inventors (yet to be determined), leading you to Edison Square.
Branching of of Main Street to the left, is Liberty Street, which leads to Liberty Square (a land to be described in a later round). Branching to the right is International Street(working title), which features an all new Muppet attraction: The Great Muppet Immigration Story(working title) and Innovation Ave which leads to Edison Square (a land to be described in a later round). Essentially, we're building a mini-Disney's America, with the entire front half of the park (Main Street, Liberty Sq, Edison Sq) all tying into the American dream in one way or anther. This is very cool. I like how we've expanded Main Street into an actual land...Very Cool!

I was thinking that we should have a lagoon alongside Main Street USA, just like American Waterfront in Tokyo DisneySea. We could have The Tower of Terror, Big Band Beat, and Toy Story Midway Mania!.
