Living With the Land...in peril?

Is it a hydrolyzed protein diet? That’s a whole disaster and a half…I can ask some friends at Hills/Science Diet if they know how long it will be, it’s been months now.

He's on a novel protein diet. Yes everyone, my cat eats venison. 😐
Now he can try another protein like rabbit or duck, but those are all out too!

Hydrolyzed is what we can try to substitute with if this shortage goes on much longer. Basically anything that's not a common protein. He has IBD and chronic pancreatitis. He's on a steroid, but vet thinks we may be able to control it with a special diet and get off the steroid.

For us, this has actually been the most stressful part of Covid this entire time, if you can believe it! (we are lucky, no one we know was seriously ill with Covid) Having a cat with issues - not being able to go in with him for visits until very recently, long waits for visits, issues with food supply. Ugh.

Bow season opens this weekend, in MT at least. There are a few ranches that sell surplus game online and ship. Could he eat minimally processed venison with some rice or other bland filler?

Gosh, I don't know! I'd have to talk to my vet.

Through friends and family who I gave his prescription to, they have visited vets and pet stores that carry this all over Illinois the past few days and we've been able to procure enough to get him through October!!! :D So if there are still issues by then, we have enough time to transition him to something else.

My cat is also overjoyed at the news of the reopening of Living With the Land.

I assume this is his celebration video?

Smoke detection system fault fixed.

Hopefully.
With the shortages to get replacement parts, it does not surprise me it took so long. Although it must have been a major problem to shut the ride down, considering the building and greenhouses are fully sprinkled.

What in the blue blazes is that length of branch in there for?!? No one had a 2x4?!?

My thoughts EXACTLY!
No branch.

What your seeing is a metal angle brace covered in fireproofing. A gray nylon strap is wrapped around it and a come along is attached between the strap and the monkey wrench. The monkey wrench is attached to a stud on the condenser water pipe. Looking at the shiny bolts on the flanges on both sides of the vibration damper, it looks like they replaced the vibration damper. The vibration damper is a section of rubber pipe that is covered with a metal braid to keep the rubber from bulging too much and failing. The rubber section would dampen vibrations caused by water moving in the pipe, especially since its hitting a 90 degree elbow or to connect two pipes that don't quite line up.

I suspect that the bolt holes on the flanges didn't quite line up and the come along was used to pull the vertical pipe over slightly to get the holes lined up so that they could insert the bolts.

I wouldn't have wanted to be the plumber that had to loosen up those 40 year old bolts. Probably had to torch them.

Ahhhhh...I can see that now. The fireproofing right next to the strap looks very much like the notch on a limb where a smaller limb came out and had been cut off.

JEBUS...I hope they didn't leave it like this...even a short period of time would be bad.

After the loss of your other cat, I'm glad you got the issues with him figured out.
