Live-Action ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’

Here's a fun snippet of Rachel's apology video from this week. It's all over Twitter, er... X.

"Insufferable" is only one word to describe this.

SPOILER ALERT: In this version of the recent events of her own making, Rachel is the victim. Not only is she the victim, but she is also a gift unto the world that people will line up to be witness to forever more. Snow White! 🤔 🤣

Miss Zegler may have genuine talent as an actress, but she has a lot of growing up to do. In the meantime, Disney or whatever other media company that invests hundreds of millions of dollars on her work needs to reign in the leash on her and manage her very tightly and closely. Because left to her own devices, she's borderline disastrous to media investments.

And people say I was dramatic! Maybe making this Snow White remake a flop might not be a bad idea.

This really needs to be stressed. The anger towards her was as intense then as it is now, and all because of her comments about the 1937 film.
I agree, on a Disney fan site I don’t think anyone should be surprised many of us didn’t appreciate her smug and condescending comments towards a film that became the foundation the Disney Company was built on, also a film many of us adore.

I don’t hate Zegler, I just think she’s an idiot who needs to learn what is and isn’t appropriate to say since a large part of her job is convincing fans to pay to see movies she’s in, as I’ve said before there’s actors I love who’s movies I’ll intentionally see and actors I don’t like who’s movies I’ll avoid, prior to her being cast as Snow White I’d never even heard her name before, in just a few clumsy interviews she has solidly placed herself in my not see list.

I am among those who adore the film, as all the merchandise related to it in my home (some of it dating back to the 1930s) attests. I honestly don't have a problem with Zegler's comments. They're exactly the kind of thing I can imagine any teenager or young person in their early 20s saying, and to get that annoyed with her for speaking as many of her contempories would strikes me as more than a little excessive.

I don’t find her answers to the interviewer’s questions the least bit condescending as far as the film is concerned.

She was talking about the modern edge that was written into the film. As far as the prince comment, there is no motivation given in the 2 1/2 minutes of screen time - that’s likely what she meant. He just turns up, sings a song and the shows up at the end.

That may have been sufficient in 1937 when telling a simple fairytale. But she was contrasting the new film in answer to questions.

In another interview, she described the prince as a "guy who literally stalks her". That also really annoyed people.

I don't consider myself that old, but I just shrug off much of what she says as rather typical for her age group (I know that I certainly spoke in less measured and more simplistic terms when I was that young). The only thing I would truly fault her for are her apparent swipes at Gadot. Perhaps they're the result of careless posting/liking practices rather than something she intends, but either way, it casts her in a poor light.

I suppose you’re right. But none of her words give me any indication that she was “hating on” the OG Snow White. In any event, I hope the new film gives the prince or love interest more than 2 to 3 minutes of screen time. And an actual role to play.

Welp, it looks like my previous post on page 183 (that was totally intended as a joke) turned out to be at least half accurate as the trailer shows a battle scene, Snow White as an action heroine and a subplot about the political landscape of the kingdom and common people feel.
They basically took it from Once Upon a Time. Seems like the Queen also takes after Regina rather than the original character.

Correct… actually ABC could be the most factual… if you watch World New Tonight… the issue is with these 24 hour news channels… there is only so much news you can cover in a day…. So then they rely on so called “Opinions” to fill in the rest of the time…. But people take it as fact…which it most certainly is not
The problem is those who consume such media and believe everything they hear. I’ll watch Rachel Maddow with an open but discerning mind. Sometimes I’ll say out loud, “I don’t know if I’d go that far;” or if something sounds far fetched, I Google it to learn for myself.
You find it unbelievable that people would be upset at an actress who trashed the OG snow white movie while filming the new one, took public shots at her costar, is anti-Israel (at a minimum), and told millions of people that they do not deserve peace? Weird.
Most of those things are either exaggerated, assumed, or trivial. I don’t know what she said about whom, and I really don’t care. The fact that it’s being promoted where it is makes all of it suspect. See above about being discerning.
ETA it’s so sad to open this webpage and click “what’s new” only to see the same half dozen threads listed every single day.
Let’s make a new one! How about…oh, see, I have no ideas, either. 🤣
Trailer leaked:

That made me want to see it more. Looks like a Disney movie, and she sounded great. That song could be the next “How Far I’ll Go” or the like.
CGI-tastic.
I know. I hate it. Every time. I even just noticed CGI balloons popping in Wicked and it annoyed me for about a fifth of a second. But every movie has it now, so what can we do?
My only issue with the movie is that they didn't cast little people because of Peter Dinklage. I wish Disney hadn't caved on that. But if the movie gets good reviews I will go see it and bring the grandparents along.
I completely don’t care about this.
Here's the original video:

It was posted on Zegler's own YouTube channel in January 2023, long before her Snow White comments became the focus of so much feigned indignation.

To those of who you gleefully bought this fake news: that someone unearthed this video, misleadingly excerpted a clip from it, and then hoodwinked you into believing it was related to her comments of the other day should tell you a great deal about how artificial all of this "outrage" is. You are being taken for a ride by those who like to stir the pot and fan the flames of such "controversies" once they've started dying down. Some of you seem to enjoy the ride, but if that's the case, at least recognise that the problem lies as much in your appetite to dislike Zegler as it does in Zegler's impolitic behaviour. If you consider yourself a more sensible and reasonable person than her, then prove it through your actions. You don't have to be part of this endless cycle of online trolling and disinformation.

I could not put enough 😍 on this post. So here are some more: 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
all because of her comments about the 1937 film
Oh, I think there’s more to it than that, but for some reason, that particular truth is taboo around here. Just google the partial words: “Snow Bro” and the 5th thing down is “Snow Brown.” And you’ll see a whole lot of ugliness about her in this film having nothing to do with her politics, but who she is.
As far as I can tell, she apologized for making her comments public, and not that she was wrong for the way she feels. I’m sure she didn’t flip on a dime about how she feels regarding those that don’t think like her.
Happens all the time. She said what she had to say, like so many before her. Why act like it’s something new, or that it’s clever to know she probably didn’t mean most of it?
she could only watch the original once.
Same. Boring AF.
you had a good chance of living to a ripe old rage.
Freudian slip? 🤣😉

I think she’s a 20something who doesn’t know anything. Why would I care what a 23 year old says about Palestine? Her opinion is lacking perspective. She got famous very young and lives in a bizarro world that sends many of them spiraling in all kinds of unhealthy ways. She has no capacity to comprehend the complexities of the Middle East. Likewise, edited clips of videos with opinion blurbs don’t make anyone comprehend her.

23 year olds think they know stuff. They think things are more black and white. I speak from experience. When I was 23, I had a lot of opinions based on little experience. I would have told you gay people were wrong to exist, no one should have an abortion, and other embarrassing (often stereotypical) things about certain kinds of people. I don’t take a 23 year old actor’s opinions seriously. Sorry, Rachel.

And I agree with her sentiments about certain voters but I (and I suspect she) don’t take it so literally. I think, much like with George W Bush, it took the majority of Americans too long to realize he was wrong about Iraq. That’s not to make a political statement, but to compare then and now. I believe many voters this time around are taking too long to wise up, and will live to realize that eventually.

Ha! You know, perhaps it was! It tickles me so much that I'm not even going to correct it!

I don't like the new song. It sounds like a generic princess pop ballad like the kind they used to release that used to be sung by Disney channel stars in the mid 2000s like this one:

The trailer in better quality:

Thank you! Much better without the words on the screen.

Also the dwarfs look worse lol. But again, that’s in most fantasy or similar movies these days.

In the context of this conversation, I think it’s hysterical that they chose to use the quote of the Queen telling Snow White something like, “I don’t remember you being so opinionated.” 😆

I don’t like any of those songs. They all sound the same, and I’m not the intended audience. They get popular, win awards, and end up in the fireworks montage. No reason this one couldn’t do likewise; it sounds like all the other ones to me.

The trailer played in front of my screening of Wicked tonight. The beats that I saw match fairly closely to the original with additional content added to flesh out the story more.

I think if given half a chance many Disney fans will enjoy it based on what I can pick up from the trailer.

You actually don’t know that. Until I corrected you, you were fooled into thinking the video had to with the current “controversy”.

I don't know that I was "fooled" into anything. I saw another video of Miss Zegler being, well, Miss Zegler. And it made me chuckle.

Her own words in videos she purposely puts out on the Internet for the world to view speak for themselves. But that's what social media does, and has always done. It's not new.

But don't worry gang, Miss Zegler's latest is old news as of Thursday afternoon. Now the world has moved on to that ridiculously cringey and weird Jaguar commercial as they try to Bud Light themselves into non-existence. I owned a Jaguar once in the late 80's, a slightly used tan XJ6 sedan with gorgeous burgundy leather interior. The late 80's was also during my famous Rugby Shirt phase when I was heading into middle age and trying to look sporty. That phase actually kind of worked for me ,and although British cars have awful reputations for reliability that Jaguar served me rather well for a few years. Even when I wasn't wearing a rugby shirt.

That said, I have no earthly idea what the brain trust at Jaguar is thinking with their new campaign of sad looking and unattractive people in weird outfits that make them look even sadder. Other than putting themselves out of business in the USA rather quickly.

You were fooled. Or rather, you willingly took the bate, because fake outrage matters more than facts or decorum.

Have you ever been on social media in the past 10 years? That's all it is. Bait videos of wacky road rage incidents and crazed Karens freaking out at the Apple store genius bar.

It serves its purpose though, to make one chuckle. And Miss Zegler has yet to disappoint on that. 🤣

Not the kind of social media you consume. To the extent that I can, I steer clear of trolls and other agitators. I consider the dross they peddle unworthy of attention, and when it does cross my path (generally in this forum, alas), I take the few simple steps needed to fact-check. It’s telling and ironic that you were the one lecturing me earlier about the unreliability of mainstream news!
