Are we? There’s plenty going on at the moment in the world of Disney. Plus even if there is a drought, we don’t have to fill the void with fake news and manufactured outrage about Zegler.
Haunted mansion gift shop, DCL treasure, and upcoming movies… that’s all that’s new to discuss right now. The rest is rehashing Lightning lane for the millionth time, how quickly VQs sold out, etc. This is my go to website when I’m bored but there’s just not much to discuss right now.

Then why are you choosing to suffer? Why are you guys so obsessed with someone who need not have even the slightest bearing on your lives?

Because it's hysterical! You couldn't make this up if you tried, and it's very funny to watch play out.

The current video going around on X today is a year old, but she's addressing her Snow White PR mess she created. And it's comedy gold. She's just like the Winged Victory statue, and everything she does in the future will create lines of people to witness it. She's just that good at what she does. 🤣

This is entertaining to watch. So much of today's media is so painfully scripted and tightly controlled by dogma, that it's genuinely entertaining when a self-absorbed starlet turns herself into a loose cannon like this.

I doubt I'll go see Snow White in a theater, but the pre-show so far from Miss Zegler is fabulous! 😍

How about this. When this thread first started I watched the 1937 animated movie. My first thought was that if Disney faithfully reproduced that movie and released it in theaters today it would appeal to no one.

That’s not to say the original is not a sweet fairytale brought to life in a groundbreaking work of animation. It is.

It’s just that modern audiences have changed. My 5-year-old grandson wouldn’t have even made it through the prince’s song. The dwarfs are portrayed as child-like (being forced to wash up if they want supper). The movie is one that was made for its times 87 years ago. It is mind-numbingly slow in its pace.

I figured that the new Snow White would be based on that character but would be updated for current audiences.

Then the craziness started and no one know what is coming out in March.

My only issue with the movie is that they didn't cast little people because of Peter Dinklage. I wish Disney hadn't caved on that. But if the movie gets good reviews I will go see it and bring the grandparents along.

Is there any evidence they initially intended to cast little people other than Martin Klebba?

I would also have preferred live actors.

Here's the original video:

It was posted on Zegler's own YouTube channel in January 2023, long before her Snow White comments became the focus of so much feigned indignation.

To those of who you gleefully bought this fake news: that someone unearthed this video, misleadingly excerpted a clip from it, and then hoodwinked you into believing it was related to her comments of the other day should tell you a great deal about how artificial all of this "outrage" is. You are being taken for a ride by those who like to stir the pot and fan the flames of such "controversies" once they've started dying down. Some of you seem to enjoy the ride, but if that's the case, at least recognise that the problem lies as much in your appetite to dislike Zegler as it does in Zegler's impolitic behaviour. If you consider yourself a more sensible and reasonable person than her, then prove it through your actions. You don't have to be part of this endless cycle of online trolling and disinformation.

Welcome to the internet. And apparently you can say the same about her vitriol towards millions of people.
That’s sad. I think this site is quite a bit better than others, so maybe that’s why my expectations are higher. Most people on this site can discuss things without expressing hatred or extreme negativity.

As far as her comments, I don’t agree with them and she has apologized and admitted they were wrong.

Politics is such a heated subject that it isn’t supposed to be discussed here. But the hatred expressed toward this actress preceded her political comments.

Which gets me back to why I find it incredible that people can be triggered to such an extreme extent by a Disney movie. There were people hoping the movie will fail, wanting her never to work again, etc. - all before any political comments.

I think you’re exaggerating a bit.

One. I don’t believe she is sincere in her apology. Two, if she was, that doesn’t make it all okay. It’s a trend with her. This isn’t a one off.

Yeah. When she hated on the OG Snow White. And took shots at Gal Gadot. She’s accountable for what she says.

How did she hate on OG Snow White? What did she say about that film?

This really needs to be stressed. The anger towards her was as intense then as it is now, and all because of her comments about the 1937 film. She had said nothing negative about Gadot at that point; on the contrary, they seemed very chummy in the footage that people were getting so worked up over, with Gadot herself chiming in to say, "She's not gonna be saved by the prince!"

That Zegler has gone on to act very unwisely since those remarks (I'm referring to her apparent swipes at Gadot as well as to her political posts) serves those who dislike her well, as it offers retroactive justification for their intense hostility towards her. But that doesn't change the fact that their outrage predates Zegler's more egregious missteps by many months.

Here's one of the interviews people were getting upset over (timestamped to where Zegler and Gadot start contrasting their version of the film with the 1937 one):

Two things to note that again underscore how artificially whipped up this has all been: 1) Gadot seems to be on the same page as Zegler but has not been framed as a hater of the original; and 2) no-one seems to have batted an eyelid when the interview first came out, and it wasn't until six months later that it was pounced upon and turned into a controversy.

I’m sure the original video of her interview is in this thread somewhere.
But watch it. What did she say that was “hating” on Snow White?

If you call what she said “hating,” you have a lot of nerve saying I’m the one exaggerating.

Both actors were responding to the interviewer’s question of how the movie was bringing a modern edge to the Snow White story. She answered.

Ok. 🤷

Side note, there is the other video where she calls the prince a stalker and another promo where she said she could only watch the original once. Again, a trend. So yeah, it made some people upset.

Yes
Also remember that her education is lacking sufficient depth to place the original fable Sneewittchen into an appropriate historical context , specifically the 1550's where the average lifespan was only 30 years due to high infant mortality and the ever popular plagues. There was little social mobility outside of hypergamy. It was the bad old days after the fall of the Roman Empire.
