Little Mermaid 3??

I thought that Lasseter was doing away with the cheapquels.
I thought I read somewhere that the direct to video sequels are made by Disney's television animation and not feature animation. In that case, I don't think it would be Lasseter's decision. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah....all of the sequels actually fall under Disney Television Animation and not under Feature Animation. They each have different headquarters and I think that Disney TV Animation isn't in Burbank...I don't remember completely...I have a portfolio review form I never sent in around here somewhere.....I don't know where it is, probably buried with the rest of that dream.

This has probably been in the works for a while and just wasn't announced until they could get some stuff finalized. It's probably got a story or at least a partial story and is probably had character designs done for new characters and is probably partially storyboarded...

Most things that get announcements are generally already underway in their production.

Could be worse.

Disney could be in the planning stages for Air Bud XXVI. :lookaroun
You might want to eat your words, I saw a preview for Air Buddies on one of my dvds, and it's on IMDB scheduled to come out this year (or did it already come out?) It's about buddies puppies I guess. Although I don't think their quite up to the 26th installment.... yet.

Hence the number, though I'm afraid I just gave TWDC the great idea of making it a full, 26-part series. :lookaroun

(I looked on IMDB before I posted, and sure enough, another Air Bud movie in the works. :brick: )

What else can they do with the Little Mermaid? The only title I can think of is The Little Mermaid 3: The Search for More Money. Of course, that's a more appropriate title for Cinderella 3.

What o_O that second trailer just looked like clips from the FIRST movie with POTC music. I dont believe that is legit at ALL.
And the first one? What? It doesnt make any sense at all, its just some music club... I dont see any kind of plot. Plus Ariel and Flounder are young again :veryconfu

Here's some info....some of these have been completed already...this list is put out a couple times a year, but it has some information that people might find interesting...maybe.

At DISNEY FEATURE ANIMATION, Meet the Robinsons is refilling the pipeline after a pause for story modifications, and the crew is now off shortened workdays with way more shots to work on.

American Dog is still heavily in story, and modellers and others have been told not to expect a heavy schedule before new story screenings unspool in the Fall.

At Disney Toons, which now occupies part of the second and third floors of the Frank G. Wells Building on the Disney Burbank lot and the second floor of the Disney Sonora Building in Glendale, work wraps up on Cinderella III and continues on Mermaid III. (Disney Toons has been on a roll of late, what with Bambi II" exceeding the studio's expectations as regards units sold. But Disney, per the trades, is in the midst of a down-sizing cycle.)

After a sleepy period, Disney Television Animation has got quite a bit going on. Among the various shows in various stages of work are:
Multiple episodes of new show Phineas and Ferb, 13 episodes of Yin, Yang, Yo (which is now in post). Thirteen episodes of the Disney Channel's prime time series The Replacements (also in post).

The new show My Friends Tigger and Pooh (26 episodes now being boarded -- this is the first Pooh in CGI), new episodes of Emperor's New School, and Kim Possible. Mickey's Clubhouse, the latest series starring the inimitable corporate symbol, is on hiatus and waiting for a possible pickup for a new season of episodes.

Wow! Thanks for all the cool info! :D

As for that Youtube clip...I buy it. I think it's legit....being that no one has any notion of the story I think that the clip is a possibility and may have been pulled from a DVD somewhere....

I never watched the TV show so maybe it's from that, but the animation appears to follow in the footsteps of the direct-to-video sequels.

I didn't necessarily think that they'd expand on Mermaid 2....who knows though...maybe it is a fake...any way you look at it though...that clip was made by Disney and not some wanna-be person (like me) sitting in their house and animating something like that for the heck of it.

I haven't watched the youtube clip, but there's a sneak peak for Little Mermaid III on the Little Mermaid DVD so it must be coming. The dvd preview seems to only show clips from the first movie too.
