Line Jumpers/Cutters

I could be wrong but doesn't RotR have a restroom about halfway through the queue line? It was either that or Smugglers run. One of them I had to use it and then had to catch up with my wife. Nobody seemed to mind as I did catch up.
I think if there’s a restroom in a very long queue and there’s only a single person going by, people probably assume they’ve used it.

At that point you’ve already been through half the line - it’s not like you’re coming from outside the line to meet up with your group.

They were cutting lines like crazy on our recent trip to Disneyland l. It always seemed to be one or two people who were cutting through the line to catch up with a group that was far ahead. They would just go “excuse me, excuse me” and butt their way through. No one did anything to stop them (including us, although i loudly yelled “what the hell???”” after about the 5th time it happened) and this happened multiple times. Grrrrrrr.

Apparently, some people think this is just fine and that you shouldn’t mind it at all.

If it did, I never got a chance to see it lol. I was stuck right at the entry to the waterfall in the extended standby line they used during extra morning hours. No way to see ahead of me and no cast members in sight. I know they added one to Flight of Passage though.

I think what you did was understandable. Now, I am saying this personally, but I am going to guess you'll have some detractors (unfortunately) with what you did. And I don't think you were "pushing" through by any stretch of the imagination. Nor do I think the people you were walking by were that concerned as people would have you believe on here.

No, there were definitely some people annoyed by me and I saw it on their faces, eye rolls, and/or loud sighs. I didn't take it personally because I WAS in their space. That outside line is meant to go one way, and one way only, and they don't leave much room for people to leave that way when the line is packed. Plus, some people were in large wheelchairs and scooters that I had to legit climb over their wheels to get by them. I'm a smaller person and it was still uncomfortably close. I was wearing my mask, even outside, because I was in people's personal spaces and, during covid, that's not something a lot of people like. There's no way I could have done that to meet back up with my husband, which is why the CM took me backstage and utilized a hidden door. If you really paid attention to their non-verbal clues, you would probably see that more people are bothered by it than you think. They just don't say anything because they want to avoid conflict while on vacation or in front of their kids.

I don’t know why I’m shocked but I really am; that one would justify having their family go ahead while they use the bathroom and then inconvenience others by pushing past to join their family as good time management when the parks are crowded. As if all those people in line aren’t in the same crowded park? We must all love waiting in line otherwise we, too, would send our party ahead while we do something else. Heck, let’s take the kids to ride a few other rides while we have someone else wait in the super long queue!!

This is just the epitome of selfish, self-entitled behavior. Only your time is important and too bad for anyone else; gotta do what you gotta do to get all those rides in and to heck with anyone else. I am seriously just flabbergasted someone would actually admit this out loud and justify it😳

I don’t think you’re going to make a dent in that poster. Seems he doesn’t understand the implications of everyone doing what he’s decided is not a problem because he’s only done it a couple of times.

People have a hard time extrapolating from their individual behavior.

I think what befuddles me, as someone who had to leave the line, is the attitude of "nothing to see here" as he's walking both in and out of lines passing people and getting into their personal space when that kind of action naturally puts all eyes on you. No kind of discomfort, embarrassment, or apologetic behavior. Just the entitlement of thinking everyone should squish to one side of the line so that he and/or his family can squeeze through to reclaim their place in line. And then to honestly think no one ever had an issue with it just because no one spoke up - you know they got so many side eye glances in those lines that they were oblivious to 🤣

Well according to somebody, nobody has a problem with them doing just that. Despite numerous people on this thread explaining differently (yourself included), there's only one person in a wheelchair (who shouldn't be in it because he can stand and take a few steps) who has a problem with it and the only others with a problem with it are on this thread.

It's very strange how from a group of posters on this forum, nobody has sided with the person who feels sending his family ahead whilst he does other things is perfectly fine and many have a problem with it. Considering the demographic of posters on this forum is probably similar to that of Disney guests, it's mind blowing to extrapolate from this "that nobody had a problem with it in the queue" and the only ones with a problem are on here? It's almost as if the person wants to ignore anyone speaking out and insist that because nobody said anything to him (remember he bragged he was a big guy too) in the line itself, that this means it didn't bother anyone.

The fireworks going off right above our heads was unforeseen. Having some kids take a peek at them is really not a big deal. No one got hurt, and no one even cared. We were in 20 lineups all day and you act as if this is just a routine thing that I do in every line up. It was kids seeing a glimpse of some fireworks, relax man.
Guy says he hopped in line before fireworks because he knew everyone would be watching fireworks and line would be short. Same guy says fireworks going off overhead was unforseen. 😂

Good spot and so his story changes again, not going too well for him it would seem 😧. They deliberately "skipped the fireworks" but then claims surprise that the fireworks started. Interesting ......................................

I'd have let it be. It isn't often you can get away with that, so he likely couldn't do it twice. You paid a ton of money to be at that park, and the last thing I'd want to be is a Karen in that situation.

Here is a good example of a time when I had a Karen in my line and I actually was NOT in the wrong. Haunted Mansion line, we skipped the fireworks to get in to some rides we hadn't done yet. So we are in line, my wife and kids felt they had enough time to run out onto the main walkway and see the fireworks the best they could. 5 minutes or so. Well, the line was going faster than I thought so I had another relative with me and he stayed in line while I went to go get them and bring them back. They were coming back anyway, and so I was gone for 10 seconds out of the line, but still had someone in our place. We come back and get in the line and a young guy and his girlfriend(?) start complaining to me that I cut in. He's in a wheelchair and as I am trying to get past him his girlfriend actually tries to run me over. I was pretty surprised and tried to tell him that we had someone in our place and I was just getting my kids. He was a classic Karen, didn't listen to reason, and he complained to a cast member who sort of just smiled at me as if to say "Yeah don't worry, I think the guy is an idiot too." I explained it to her and left it at that. Here is the kicker, we all ended up in the same stretch room so nothing changed one way or another.

Then I noticed he got up rather comfortably from his wheelchair and got onto the ride vehicle. Hmmm. Interesting.

Anyway, the point is that WDW is the last place I want to start a verbal fight with anyone.

You’re not reading closely enough. He didn’t know the unforeseen fireworks would be going off directly over his head.

So, let me ask everyone this. When we were in HS last year, our group of 4 had been in the standby line for Millennium Falcon for 25 minutes. It was a rather hot day and I offered to go get a few glasses of that funky blue or green milk at the nearby milk stand. When I returned, I rejoined my family in line where I'd been just a few minutes earlier. I didn't have to push past anyone to get there but there were lots of people behind us.

Was that considered line jumping? No one behind us grumbled because I'm sure they saw me step out of the line earlier.

I'm still undecided on whether I like the blue or green milk better.

I think Disney's missing an opportunity to sell blue and green milk to people standing in line lol.

Honestly, my interpretation of their policy is that Disney doesn't want people leaving and rejoining the line (emergencies excepted) because it can cause problems with others in the line, even though it didn't in your case. You kind of take your chances these days. That said, until Disney believes it's in its own interest to do something about it, people are going to do whatever they like.

Other theme parks have signs posted saying that anyone who leaves a line for any reason must rejoin it at the end. In that case, it's pretty clear. Disney doesn't want to do that because it destroys the magic of standing in the hot sun for 2 hours to get on a ride.

The green milk is much better.

Personally I would have waited and got the drink later, mainly because of the potential of upsetting other people in the line who would have to move or question me as to what I was doing. Despite somebody on this thread claiming otherwise, people do get ticked off when in line with people saying "Excuse me, excuse me" and passing by others. It's not just having to move that annoys people, it's also the thought of why is this person doing this and wondering whether they have a legitimate reason or not.

However as you were already in the queue you could argue that it didn't make anyone's wait longer, similar to somebody leaving the line for an emergency toilet visit etc. However a toilet visit is preferable to wetting yourself (or worse) and is generally acceptable by others as they may be in that situation themselves one day. Getting a drink if not essential is probably considered 'bad form' unless you need it so as not to pass out as opposed to just feeling like a drink would be nice. I'd say it's certainly better than sending your family ahead of you to join the line whilst you get your drink and then expect people to let you through like some people do though.

You get points for not having a person in a wheelchair in your story and insinuating that they shouldn't be as they could stand and walk. As for the milk, I prefer the blue personally :).
