Lin-Manuel Miranda Pitches Encanto Attraction to Chapek?

It should JUST have a Broadway play. I don't think it's a good movie, but on Broadway it would could be done well. Like Hamilton.

Well, that's settled then.
I know. Let's make it a Broadway Musical. That way, when it gets famous, Disney can make into a film shown on Disney+. Then, they'd have the Movie, the Musical based on the Movie, and the Movie based on the Musical that's based on the Movie.

Brilliant!

I'm sure what Imagineers are left are probably throwing ideas around for Encanto. They wouldn't be doing their job if the didn't. However I just don't see Encanto getting anything major added to the park at this time.

In the Parks
Yes
There's insufficient substance IMHO for anything but a mean spirited misadventure about a domineering matron and an enabling house.

Keep in mind; this may be a vanity project for Lin. He loves Disney so much, and he has so much money after Hamilton. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s agreed to help fund the project if it means being added to the parks.

I am afraid they will simply re-theme Swiss Family Tree House in Disneyland (currently themed to Tarzan) to an Antonio and animals tree house and call it a day. If it is well-received, they will do the same thing at WDW. Which is a shame because Encanto deserves more than that, just like Moana deserves more than the water exhibit and Tangled deserves more than bathrooms. But, for those of us hoping for an Epcot pavilion or Adventureland expansion pad project, we need only look at Disney's latest attempts to capitalize on IP to sadly see we may need to lower our expectations.

Frozen Ever After is an even worse example. The Moana water thing and the Tangled bathrooms don't really preclude any future ride development. FEA is a very poor attraction shoehorned into a space it doesn't remotely belong, and they've chosen to just clone that attraction elsewhere rather than build something befitting of the franchise's popularity.

I’m confused if y’all just hate this movie or???? It is one of the biggest Disney movie successes in recent years, it has been a pop culture phenomenon and we will not be “letting it go” anytime soon. This movie deserves its own attraction, custom built from the ground up. As did Frozen but Disney has decided to clone FEA in 3 other parks…..

i enjoyed it but there’s a lot of Disney movies I enjoy that have no presence in the parks, if it’s still popular in a year, or has a successful sequel, it’ll have proven it has some legs.

It’ll take 3-5 years to design and built an attraction, combine that with shortening attention spans, and it just makes sense to make sure it’ll still be popular in several years when the ride actually opens.

This is where the black box rumored attraction would be handy, to quickly take advantage of something “hot off the presses” to immediately entertain, but more importantly assess potential for something more permanent.
