Lilo and Stitch live-action remake

I hate almost every live action - Winnie the Pooh and Beauty and the Beast aside. Went last night. The kids (teens) and I all cried. It’s very good. Just one opinion but I’m a critic of most Disney films these days - wish was a joke. This is a film I would enjoy even not knowing the original. And the acting was great. 9/10. Would see again

Yes
It’s a no controversy popcorn flick with a wildly popular character

It’s already a huge smash and may get to a completely ridiculous number.

People want that.
And Disney fans…let’s face it their PR has sucked for years now…REALLY want it. Whether they know it/admit it or not

“The power of Stitch compels you…!”

Dang, in all seriousness a little worried that this is the second review here mentioning waterworks. I became a movie crier during pregnancy and somehow this never wore off. I literally shed tears during the Minecraft movie. Might have to hide my head under a jacket for parts of this one.

Was there a Winnie the Pooh live action?
Yes, Disney released Christopher Robin back in 2018 with Pooh returning to see Christopher Robin as an adult, Ewan McGregor played Christopher Robin and Jim Cummings voiced Pooh, it got mostly positive reviews. Did $197M at the box office against a $75M budget, so was considered a success as it was the highest grossing Pooh related movie Disney had ever released.

As we told you yesterday, Disney and Rideback’s Lilo & Stitch was bound to post the best Friday for a movie opening over Memorial Day, and it’s settling at $55M, which of course translates to the best opening ever for a movie over the 4-day holiday with $175M-$180M. The Dean Fleischer Camp-directed movie gets a solid A CinemaScore, 5 stars and 90% positive on Comscore/Screen Engine’s PostTrak and an 81% definite recommend. Forty-four percent said they went because it looked fun and entertaining, and 35% said it’s part of a franchise they love. Already, 61% want a sequel.

It does surprise me they've never found anything better for Stitch in the parks considering the amount of merchandise he shifts seems to dwarf any characters other than Mickey and Minnie. Not sure what they could do with him, mind you, but I probably would have converted Buzz to Stitch once they started overloading all the other parks with Toy Story. It's honestly also a better fit for Tomorrowland.
