Lights! Motors! Action! Closing?

I think stunt shows in general get old...

I've seen LMA once, and don't really have a desire to really do it again. I wish Disney would have used such a gigantic space for an actual moving attraction-- something MGM is in dire need of

um... Harry Potter isnt disney- its WB:lookaroun
neither is Twilight Zone (CBS) or Star Wars (Lucas)... but they still have attractions in WDW ;)

It's amazing what rights can be purchased/leased for the right amount of money.

That being said, Disney does own the broadcast rights for the Harry Potter films in the US.

Man I wish it would close, then they could tear it down and build, I don't know, the Great Muppet Movie Ride. It's a horrible show in my opinion. Not very exciting at all. Pales in comparison to Indiana Jones.

All logic suggests they would not close a show which had multimillions sunk into it anytime in the near future...

I think logic would suggest that you wouldn't keep throwing money at a loser. I saw the show once... that was enough. It won't be around in five years.

We have to agree w/those who were not all that impressed with this show. If we had nothing else to do, we might see it a second time, but I wouldn't wait in line for any real length of time to see this show. Once was enough for us. But then again, we aren't really into the whole "car" type of entertainment (ie, NASCAR etc). I can see the appeal and will gladly let it drain 5,000 mgm guests for each show..making the lines for other attractions that much shorter for us.

I don't like LMA anyways. The main problem with it is all the time it takes to setup the stunts. There is so much downtime in the show. It kills the momentum you get from watching the awesome stunts.

And of course Indiana Jones doesn't have these problems...

This is going to always be a popular attraction because it is a car show... Millions of people make NASCAR one of the largest sports in the nation every weekend, and those same millions will love watching cars spin about in a stunt show... it's going to be here for many years to come...

LMA is truly the biggest waste of an hour on the Disney property. It's the one attraction in all of Disney World I would not ever see again (I'll even go see Under New Management the next time I go), unless it got a MASSIVE overhaul and somehow became entertaining. I don't know, theme it to "Cars" or something.
My general feeling about it filling to capacity is more that it is NEW than it is good. In a couple years, when word-of-mouth has spread, I doubt it will be filling to capacity, though I could be wrong about this. Personally, though, I can't think of one thing I'd recommend to anyone about this show. You wait 30 minutes in the blazing Florida Sun to get in (no shade at all when I went); then, even though I was one of the earliest to get in line, I still somehow got stuck sitting in the front rows, which have no shade in the morning/early afternoon; next, you sit through a lot of talking and setup just to see a two minute scene that looks so controlled you never for a moment feel like there's any kind of danger involved; more blathering ensues, and then another two-minute controlled stunt...and so on, and so on. Then there's that ending. Was that supposed to be climatic? Was I supposed to be somehow excited? Again, it was all so...well...controlled. I guess that's just the word for this show. I left feeling like I'd sat through a sauna watching some lame ESPN 2 special. Yeah, can't wait to do that again.
Let's compare that to Indy. True, the queue is a bit uncovered, but the stadium itself is totally covered, so that's a real bonus in Florida. And I find the times inbetween the stunts (which I think look thousands of times more dangerous than anything in LMA), to be incredibly fascinating. Watching the sets separate and everyone get everything in place for the next "shot" is more entertaining than whatever the host is doing, so I'm always deeply engrossed for the whole 30 minutes. Maybe it's because I'm a big Indiana Jones fan, or maybe it's because I'm just a big behind-the-scenes movie show fan, or maybe it's because I'm not a fan of car chases and similar stunts. I don't know. What I do know is that Indy will always get a visit from me, LMA never will again. Bring back Residential Street, or better yet, make it another "attraction" in the tour like Catastrophe Canyon.

Shouldn't this thread be closed ?!

The question has been answered, and all it's doing (being left open) is propagating false rumors.

Absolutely, we never digress a post around here. Don't care for the LMA bashing though. Like every Disney attraction, if you don't like it go to another one you do. Beyond the show, I appreciate the work that has gone into the stadium, the props, the vehicles, the driver's skills, the cast that supports the show from start to finish. JMO

If i had to pick one attraction I am most looking forward to seeing again this year, it's this show.

I'm not going to presume to pass broad judgements, but speaking for myself and my family, we love it.

We are heading down Saturday and saw nothing about it being closed for rehab? Hope it is open I think it is a great show. Indy is getting old now. Need to put a Indy Ride or Indy Coaster in that spot.

4 days !!!!:sohappy:

It will be great to see it go. They should put back up the houses. But update the houses and some of the loveable houses of the past.

The one thing that we always forget on forums like this is that your average park visitor is not like us. They don't go back to the park several times a year or in many cases, even once a year. To many people Disney vacations are once in a lifetime or something done once every 5 years or so. To those of us who are enamored with Disney and visit a ton, shows like this get old, to your average, once every 5 years guest, which makes up the majority of Disney guests, this show is good.

Its got explosions, its got cars jumping, its got fun stunts. No, its not something that is going to draw me back to see it everytime I go to the park, but for your average guest it's great. Now there are some issues with it, it should have been flipped around. Loading for the show is ridiculous and you feel like you're being herded in, and the entire thing should be covered, not just part of it. It gets really hot sitting in those bleachers. But the first time I saw it was after 12 years of not being in the parks. I loved the show, my wife even enjoyed the show and she didn't want to even go to it at first. Now was I excited to get back in line and do it again? No, but it served its purpose. It allowed me to sit down for an hour in the shade and be entertained and its still something I talk about a great deal.

Disney has to make a decision in creating attractions, do they design to the guest who comes 10 times a year or do they design to the guest who comes once every 5 years. I know which we would choose, but your average guest isn't as discriminating as we are and they can get away with it.
