That’s good to hear. What about the holidays prior to April 2024 when lots of annual passes were set to lapse. Did you notice any difference around then?
The summer Holidays in 2023 were considerably empty. I don’t think AP attendance made that much of a difference, everyone was seemingly making plans other than Disney.

As of last night, there was availability at every on-property, non-DVC Disney resort for 12/22-12/28. Every. Single. One.
Yea I noticed that too. Lots of availability. It’s interesting too since during the holidays you would expect the hotels to be more filled since there are more non-locals going to the park due to black out dates.

That started pre-pandemic but post pandemic it was taken to a whole new level. I guess it's understandable when the message for a year was that your kid doesn't need to be in school.
My kids are presently in school. Low-performing students perform at a particularly low level (pandemic deficits?) and high-performing students just sit around on their laptop with headphones on.

I would not hesitate to pull my kids out if not for the fact that my wife and I teach. We can’t just leave for a week. But if our Spring Breaks ever don’t align, we will just pull the kids out when my wife is off.

Just stick them at Epcot. There’s plenty to learn there…or was that learn from there.

We took our kids out for two weeks, no qualms. They’re both good students and will take a few days to catch up.

I think crowds are just spreading out more because people chase the “low” and avoid the “high”.

It’s better than Peter Pan’s Flight, which has similarly silly wait times.
But Navi is way newer and is in place in a park with a severe lack of crowd eaters, especially the area that Navi is located in. It could have been designed to be much longer and have a much higher capacity but Disney said screw it. Peter Pan was made a longggg time ago and also is much more nostalgic and has a ride mechanism that is unique to that ride. With that said I don’t think Peter Pans wait times are justified but I don’t think Navi’s are either but people disagree

The surge pricing strategy has become more dramatic over time, too. It used to just be the hotel that cost more during peak weeks. Now it’s also tickets, LLs, and even buffets. Even your LYFT to and from the airport!

How do the buffets cost more at Disney owned and operated restaurants during the holidays?

What ages are your kids if you don't mind me asking?

When our kids were younger, while we wouldn't pull them out for a full week, we didn't mind them missing school for part of a week, if it fell into a good vacation time, such as the infamous Jersey week when schools are close on thursday and friday, we would pull them out on the M/T/W. Or the week of thanks giving.

Our kids are now in middle school and it seems like they are doing tons of testing this week prior to the holiday. Teachers i guess feel like they are going to lose traction with the holiday vacation and timed lesson plans to have section test end this week, and start fresh after new years. With an 8th grader getting ready for HS and applications still pending, we wouldn't consider taking them out now that school grades are starting to actually matter.

Makes sense. HS's around us start looking at transcripts in 7th grade for scholarships and such so we kinda of made that the end line. It also factors in that they both travel for sports (one in winter for wrestling and one in spring/summer for baseball) so they end up missing the selected friday/mondays througout the year, so we don't really want to pull them out of school for longer periods if we can avoid it. Our districs have become sticklers for non-medical absences. While surely hot, we have really come to appreciate the late august times for visiting parks. Most of southern schools are already back in session, and many in north/west have already taken their vacations.
