If you continuously move for 45 and i stop and go for 45 minutes we BOTH will end up at the finish line at the exact same time thats really not debatable
Of course, but 45 minutes can FEEL VERY different.

As an extreme example, what feels like it goes by faster, 45 minutes of being beaten with a baseball bat or 45 minutes of a Swedish massage?

A moving line is worlds better than a stop and start line even if you end up at the same place in the same amount of time.

Einstein would beg to differ: "Space and time are relative, and all motion must be relative to a frame of reference"

A moving queue provides a perception of progress (reference), a frequently stalled queue provides delays of unknown duration (no reference).
How bout we make a wager?
If you are sooo confident

That a 45 minute wait moving vs the same 45 minute wait stopping and going. We both get to the end at the same time.

No one is forcing you or your group to be on a phone while in line... Why do you care if others prefer to burn time this way?
Because people have largely lost their communication skills and screens actually make the time go slower.

Not breaking news.

Believe it or not…we used to have conversation in the snakes…people would play games with strangers and there were sometimes sing alongs.

Not all “progress” is actually progress

The societal implications of people being glued to their phones rather than interacting with the world around them is a big topic.
Every generation thinks the younger ones are glued to the latest technology and it's making them anti-social or mindless.

“They have trouble making decisions. They would rather hike in the Himalayas than climb a corporate ladder. They have few heroes, no anthems, no style to call their own. They crave entertainment, but their attention span is as short as one zap of a TV dial.” - Proceeding with Caution, Time, 2001
“Cinemas and motor cars were blamed for a flagging interest among young people in present-day politics by ex-Provost JK Rutherford… [He] said he had been told by people in different political parties that it was almost impossible to get an audience for political meetings. There were, of course, many distractions such as the cinema…”Young People and Politics, Kirkintilloch Herald, 1938
"The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise." - Socrates
Texting/smart phones are just the latest in Telegraph>Radio>Telephone>Cinema>Television> ect.

Keep in mind that is with everything across the entire year. So some rides were 10 minutes longer, others were the same. And they could be markedly different depending on how busy things are, just a very generalized number. But 5% is a difference, it's not that nothing changed. But it's the perception of time that matters to how happy people are. And that is what everyone is talking about with things. Theoretically, those DAS people were pushed to standby, so the lines won't change too much if rides are dispatching at the same rate and there are the same number of people. But it feels like it's going quicker to people, and that is the important thing. You are right,45 minutes is 45 minutes. But feeling like you are moving keeps all the guests much happier. Hence why people want just stand by.
So you are agreeing with me time does NOT change and you do NOT have any extra free time in the parks… thats your perception and others im sure but i live in the real world where facts and reality matter and 45 minutes is still 45 minutes. So maybe you are “tricked” into thinking otherwise easily so be it. Great but again. Facts are facts.

Now I’m imagining being given a massage by the Swedish chef. I don’t know why.

Without getting into whether standby lines can be reduced by adjusting DAS, LL, etc., perception does have an impact on experience.
Again. Im strictly talking about time. I can argue there are plenty of things you can do in a line that doesnt move that you cant by stopping and going. Everyone has a different view on “perception”. Not targeting you but the goal posts constantly move. Everyone complained about “long lines” blaming DAS well the lines are still basically just as long. 🤷‍♂️

PHYSICALLY YES YOU ARE GETTING TO THE SAME ******** SPOT AT THE SAME TIME.

Psychologically a non stop moving line feels better than one that is constantly stopping.
That may be your reality and others im NOT denying that at all… to me and others 45 minutes is still 45 minutes lol. Im saving No time at all and the complaint people had of long lines are in fact still long.

Again DAS was the cause of long LL waits. It had nothing to do with standby, standby will always be long no matter what they do.

you cant be serious right now saying this?!? Literally there are countless pages and threads blaming DAS for long lines. News flash. I just came back from a trip. Ive used DAS for many years. This was 2nd trip since change and 1st where noone was “grandfathered” in. The LL lines were longest ive seen in years.
