You absolutely tiraded about paying for rides…

…and folded like a cheap suit in record time.

The reason I say this is so the explanation is known when you are priced out or the value of paying turns you off from the product.

all empires fall

I will eat my crow. I like it well done.

I have no choice. Im a Disney fanatic. And my kids consider it their favorite place on earth and do not understand the flaws it has like you and I. I hate that I have to pay for rides but Ill do it. Keep in mind some days are a bargain if you look at the price for a dessert party like Frozen or a VIP tour that has Rise in it. Those are almost $100 a head. $1005 is not price out money. Pay per ride or Disney Premier Access would have priced me out, or higher prices for the rides. Free would be the best option, but its no longer an option.

Yeah, I know I preached about how people will no longer come...I will not be staying at a Disney Resort after this coming trip likely for a long time if ever.

The consequences to this is we will not purchase a Dining plan (IF its is offered by then). We might eat at Ohana since they reverted back to the original menu on NYE which is another $300 easily but thats not definite yet. We will eat at some of the Quick Service places or find ways to save money on food. I put aside another $500 for beer/drinks for my wife and I which was never gonna be avoided anyway. Im budgeting 12-1500 for food 2 adults and 3 kids (11,11,14).

Yes… but this new system functions almost identically to MaxPass.
That's too bad. I liked the ability to book a FP for later in the day or change the time.. I wish they could have come up with a hybrid system where, day of, you could select a time for your next FastPass and have it function like FP+, but without the pre-booking. One fp at a time but you select your time from what's available.

The entire system will function much more efficiently if they keep it to next available time slot and only one at a time.

If this news makes you happy, looks like you're vastly outnumbered.......

Most would prefer free FP+ including me. Most resort guests wanted and expected a few bones thrown their way - including me. But now that its no longer an option, you can make it work or stop going. There will be no Disney Springs souvenirs for my family. There will be only quick service or snacks. IF they want to meet a character we will wait in line like we have always done. No more character dining. It is what it is. IF i was given a choice right now to switch back to old FP+ i'd do it in a heartbeat second.

A bunch of people have mentioned getting up early as an issue and I’m not sure why. There will be plenty of availability of LL passes if you get to the park mid morning just like there was with old paper FP. Will there be less availability? Of course. Will you get less done going later? Absolutely. But it’s really no different than the experience from the old paper FP days (pre FP+). If you survived and enjoyed the parks with using paper FP going to the machines and getting your return time, this should work too.
This system is going to devalue the advantage for people in the know like me waking up early because it will punish people for not doing so much harder than the old system and thus pack the parks early more than ever.

A horrifying thought just creeped into my head.... now I have to reconfigure my spreadsheet for this G+ and IAS stuff. :(
Me too... I'll probably archive what I've got (you know memories... tell the grandkids) then copy/paste the useful stuff and rebuild. I'll wait a bit, though, to see how this all plays out over the next 6 months or so.

They somehow managed to make the rollout of this a confusing, muddled mess. 70% of the people griping about it on FB still have no idea how it works.
They are outrageously monetizing another formerly cost-free perk. That's all I need to know to hate it. Only blood-sucking Disney could create a vacation experience with all of the pleasantness of a barium enema combined with the cost of a new car.

There are two types of non-BG rides:
  • The new top tier duo of each park
  • All the other rides

Keep in mind that the two BG rides (Rat, RotR) are also LL$ rides along with six others.
I know they’ve said you can choose 2 paid LL per day but have they explicitly said it’s only 2 per park available? Sorry trying to follow along but it’s tough to see at times which is conjecture, which is conjecture from insiders, and which is announced

For the record, I did not ever say Id stop going to WDW. I did say Id probably not stay on site any longer and that others might choose to stay away from now on. :)
You threatened…you folded…we can move on.

as captain Picard told me…there are multiple versions of the truth…and personal truth is one of them

but now you’re free to go plan and do more “exploring”

That sounds somewhat like priority seating…the greatest system wdw ever had…and they made tons using it…

but Bob killed it for cost accounting.

This would be a net gain IF they went back to full staffing…but I see no way they do that
Apparently they already have it in MDE. So it's just going to move I guess.

That’s not the same thing…

priorty seating reserved a portion of tables/staff based on predictions of busy times and slotted people in. Soft reservations. It allowed them to handle bookings and walk ups concurrently based on flow…minimal bottle necks

“Walk up line” sounds like a lot of people for a margin of inventory
