Once again, my biggest issue is the fact that G+ doesn’t let you re-ride through LL. If the availability is there and it’s in a guest’s booking window they should be able to use LL on any available ride - not just rides they have yet to ride that day.

For example, last time I was at MK (which albeit was a slow day) there were LL’s available for BTMRR, SM, HM, Pirates, etc pretty much on demand even though the standby lines were 15-40 minutes. There is no reason I should not have been able to pull multiple BTMRR LL’s if they were available all the way up to park close. If they would let you re-ride I wouldn’t hate it nearly as much.

I haven't used Genie+, but I really dislike the idea of this too. If the spot is available, I should be able to use it.

Could someone explain to me how the current Genie+ system is complex? I genuinely don't get how it's viewed as difficult or unintuitive.

I agree it's not difficult. IMO the issue is that many are trying to make it work like FP+. It becomes harder to use if you are constantly modifying your return times and trying to stack for later in the day.

That's the only way it would be worth it for us. My son handled all the rides this trip and he said it wasn't that hard. But he doesn't mind being on his phone all the time.

I think it's difficult to explain and understand at a cursory glance and not having used it before. Once you use it for a day it's easy.

Try to explain to someone the following. In order to use the line skipping tool you have to:
  1. Wake up at 6:55AM and buy the service
  2. Wait until exactly 7AM and buy your Individual Lightning Lanes and book your Lightning Lane
  3. Then at two hours after park open (which depends on the park, and not early morning entry times) OR after you use the first Lightning Lane you can book your next one.
  4. Then from then on out you either have to wait two hours to book your next OR you are able to book if the last one was used.
And while your explaining step 2 their brain is still trying to contemplate why they have to wake up at 6:55AM and they are interrupting to ask questions.

My guess is one day in advance.
That wouldn't be enough to sway anyone to book a vacation to WDW that is avoiding it because of current G+ set-up.
They will need something like the FP+ set-up that is available with vacation packages at a WDW resort if they want it to make a difference.

We are not going to WDW again this year because of G+ current set-up. Changing it to one day in advance won't change my mind for 2024.

Not too many people saw this one coming. In fact, there were many here who "guaranteed" that pre-booking of any kind was a thing of the past. It's fun to speculate, but I doubt anyone actually knows.
Agreed. I just don't see how they can go back to pre-booking more than 1 or more then a day or two ahead of time. It would severely alter being able to price Genie+ daily like they do.

Which is why that in at least that one way, it is a nice improvement. Someone who wants to rope drop and grab the next closest ride all day can do so while someone like myself who wants to mosey in at whatever time I feel like that day can stack. I technically get less use out of it in terms of number of rides but in exchange I can do those rides when I want.

There are also the 'rules' surrounding it, like no re-rides, not all rides are included, you can buy your way onto some rides, *but only certain ones, etc.

Not to mention they don't even show you the time for the first 15 min until you get to the confirmation screen. I had sit there refreshing on the modify screen for 15-20 min to get a time that worked for when we were going to be in the parks.

FP+ worked best for us because we often get to the parks later. We were able to figure it out and use Genie+ in a way that it worked for us but it did add an additional $800 to our costs.

You spent $800 on Genie+ during one vacation?

I totally understand we have no choice now, but wow!

We need a new thread “What was your Genie+ costs”. It would be interesting to see.
