In your opinion. Other people like it. Not me, but others.
Who likes it?

I haven't read one person who LIKES it

I don't know anyone in their right mind that LIKES paying for something that used to be free

I have read that people tolerate it because they have no choice. And that's because the system doesn't work, making the standby lines even longer than they were with FP+

I understand some people might LIKE certain aspects of it better than FP+ (like no advanced planning) but the drawbacks FAR outweigh those aspects (no rerides, pre 7am EVERY day, on phone all day, can't choose return times, the cost, etc. etc. etc.)

That's not opinion, that's fact........

So if you want to be an apologist, than by all means be one, but get off your high horse and stop pretending the Genie+ is a good thing, because it isn't

Knock it off. It is well known that I do not care for it either. However, I am not posting here every time I put my hands on my keyboard talking about how much it sucks or calling people names that do not show the same disdain for the system that you have. Do I need to give you a doll so you can show us where the scary and mean Genie+ system violated you? Yeah, yeah, yeah. We get it. You don't like the G+ system. You didn't like the FP+ system. You didn't like the FP system. We. Get. It. That IS your OPINION. As it is mine to not like the system either. But that does not make it fact. Nor is it a fact that the wait times were longer with FP+. That is again, your opinion. Move on.

I do respect his position though and I think Disney has really put themselves between a rock and a hard place by changing the system around so much, that it appealed to different demographics and now someone will always be super upset by it.

Ignoring the money and focusing on the system...
G+ is much better for:
  • offsite guests as only ILL has a resort perk (I stayed offsite last trip for the first time in ~10 years)
  • People that like to go with the flow and let the day come to them
  • People that book more last minute vacations (don't miss out because they weren't ready 30 or 60 days out)
  • People that just don't want to plan a lot. Just want to show up and have a good time.
FP+ is much better for:
  • Hyper planners (anyone else used to have excel spreadsheets?)
  • People that like to sleep in
  • People that stay onsite (actually got a huge advantage)
When FP+ was around, people used to complain all the time that you had to over plan for everything at WDW and DLR was so much easier to just walk up and have a good day.

Personal experience (so far only used G+ for one day).
  • I was on my phone less than FP+
  • I got on less attractions with G+ vs LL (I blame the lack of a modify button though, which is also why I was on my phone less)
  • I felt like the system was worth $15 compared to my day of pre-G+ in October
  • Never waited more than 30 minutes for a ride in either system
  • I used to pick the soonest time anyway... so picking times really doesn't matter to me
For my current touring style, park open to close kind of guy, G+ would be as good as FP+ for me (ignoring the money) with 4 easy fixes
1) First LL can be made at park open, whether you are in the park or not (sleep is precious on a WDW vacation)
2)Let me modify my selection (because as crazy as it is to some, I like playing the "fast pass game" as we called it trying to get a better time whenever I was basically on my phone anyway because I was waiting for something.
3)Allow re-rides
4)Put all rides on normal G+, I probably won't ride 7D for years because it's not worth money to me to skip the line for just it and I'm also not willing to wait that long.

Quick comparison of my MK days using G+ vs FP+
G+ (sold out day)skipped the line for: Jungle Cruise, Pirates, Carpets, Big Thunder, Mansion, Pan, Mermaid, Pooh, Tea cups, Space, and Buzz. Total of 11 rides
FP+ (July 4th week 2019) skipped the line for: Splash, Thunder, Haunted Mansion, Pan, Pooh (x2), 7 dwarfs, Meet Tiana and Rapunzel, Meet Ariel, Under the Sea, Dumbo, Tea Cups, Buzz (x2), Meet Mickey & Minnie (they were meeting together) and Meet Tinkerbell. 12 rides and 4 meet and greets

TLDR: For some people like Jeff, the new system sucks because the old system was better for his touring style. For some people, the new system is probably way better. For people like me, G+ is actually fairly close although there are a few clear drawbacks that I wish they would fix.
Well written and exactly on target. When you say modify, you mean swap a reservation without cancelling the current reservation right? Because "change party" is a slippery slope. Anyway I agree completely that your 4 changes would make it a lot better, although still not as good as pre-booking as I am a planner with a spreadsheet.

Under FP+ I found the 6 passes per day booked at 90 days when staying Club Level *so* compelling that I booked a trip even though I'd just been. Like you I think I can make G+ work, but it isn't so great I have to go now. I don't think it blows, it's merely inferior. Kinda waiting for the new coasters and Epcot before returning, which also gives them some time to dress up G+ for me, er, us.

Wrong again pal.....you knock it off and use the ignore button if you so choose

these forums are for opinion/fact, like it or not, so its very easy for you to not read mine if you dont like it

I loved FP+.......and I didn't mind paying for it, if i got a benefit.......I would stay in club level just so I could pay the $50 pp for the extra 3 FP+ per day..........

Thats a real benefit i got (picked times, not in the tiers, got to book in advance, knew when i had a 7-10 day trip booked i was going to be able to ride the headliners without waiting hours, didn't have to wake up early to book, could do pool every am and parks every night and still get all rides)

Done. Thanks for the suggestion. I never would have found it if you had not shown me the light. I am not worthy to place my feet upon the soil you grace with your wisdom.

i dont get the joke, but i do like the reference........

I think Flaming turd is a good but understated way of describing Genie+
Go check out the YouTube series of videos by Touring Plans about Genie+. Their second video goes into detail on how much time you can expect to save at each park on Low, Moderate and High crowd level days. That could then help inform your decision on which days (if any) you buy G+.

There are no such things as low medium or high crowd levels anymore. Every day is a high crowd level, just look at the reservation calendar.
Off on a tangent, but, the reservation system is a nonsense, it's about controlling the crowd and not the numbers. I didn't go to the reserved park in the morning, but, didn't realise you had to go to it to unlock the hopper. So I went to MK in the evening and they told me I couldn't enter as my park hopper hadn't been unlocked. I questioned the logic of this, that all the reservations for MK had been taken, but, if I'd unlocked the hopper I could get in. So it couldn't be about capacity. I think it's because I'm on my own, but, they unlocked the hopper at guest relations so I could go into MK.
The reservation system is another shameful con by those who make the decisions. WDW is being run like a cheapskate operation and I'm not sure if I like being treated like a sheep being herded into where they want me to go, cutting services like mousekeeping and treating guests like possible criminals with the room checks.

Low, medium and high crowd days??? The first two no longer exist. My advice is to not waste your money. If I hadn't complained I would have paid $16 for two, what essentially are fantasies, can you remember FP+ going so quick? I think they seriously limit the number of LL availability, for what ends? You work it out. I went back to DHS and during the time my TSM LL should have been I was in line for ROTR, much better and only60 minutes.

you sure if you're aware, but approximately 90% of all WDW guests don't start the day early.........

so bad for 90% of the people.......thats also a FACT
You don't need to actually go to the park early lol just start making reservations early.

I can tell you won't be convinced otherwise which is fine but I'm not sure who you think you are pleading with. Disney isn't reading this and even if they are, it's not going to change anything. You're screaming into the abyss.

Jeff, I just don't know what your goal is. We're here to discuss/debate as fans and discussion potentially leaked information. Berating the same basic point (that you hate Genie+) over and over does nothing except create noise. Nothing said here is going to affect decisions made on this product.
