Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

Is that also true with AP w/ on site stay?
I'm not an AP, so someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe APs can purchase Genie+ in advance; they can only purchase it one day at a time on the day of...

For advance purchases, Genie+ is tied to your ticket (as an upgrade, the same way as Park Hopper is), not to your resort stay, so even APs who are staying on property can't buy G+ in advance right now, since you have to buy it for the length of your ticket, and there's no fixed length to an AP ticket.

Okay, anybody who wants to know what it's like to use Genie+ and Lightning Lane needs to see this video. This guy Kevin Heimbach walks us through what happened to him when he tried to use those price-gougers for the first time:

Oh my god what a nightmare. One of the things I would always do at a Disney park IS LEAVE MY PHONE IN THE ROOM!!!! That was one of the best things ever. To ESCAPE the damn phone for a while. Now Disney is practically making it a requirement to bring the cursed device along. They probably saw all those nitwits who can't turn off their phone for a second running around the parks waving it around and taking selfies and texting ''OH LOOK I'M AT WALT DISNEY WORLD LOOK AT ME I'M NOT ACTUALLY LOOKING AT ANYTHING OR RIDING ANYTHING BUT LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME" and thinking "Heheheheh. How do we exploit this idiocy?"

My god, forget WDW until it's under new management. You suckers who are going along with this, well, good luck. But I'm not wasting my time, my nerves, and my money on this con game.

That may work when its not busy.

My kids were at Epcot yesterday and tried out LL. It was futile. The were there at rope drop at IG, no EE. Got in line for Rat, which broke down for an hour. Did LL first thing and the time they got for Soaring was 12:55. By the time, 1030, they could make a second LL. TT, frozen all gone. The rest of the LL were 20-30minute standby. If they would have used LL for those rides they would be spending more time criscrossing Epcot then in standby. So they used LL for 1 ride.

Now if they could have parked hopped they could have made a LL for one of the rides at the studios in the evening.

Still not worth it.

Even thought this doesn't belong here....Harmonious.

One daughter works for the company, the other long time Veteran. The third friend was a Disney newbie. They all said it was god awful. The first and last time they will waste time watching it.

Maybe it works for MK but its worthless at Epcot IMHO.

And for me FP>FP+>G+ which is marginally better than nothing, but loses when you factor in that you have to pay for it.
Nothing wins hands done for me. My wife and I went to Disneyland during the blissful period last year when there were no AP's and no FastPasses and it was the most magical, relaxing day I've had in a Disney park in years.

Wasn't looking at my phone, not crisscrossing and running around the park trying to make a time, walked into a line knowing it would constantly move, got to experience the day as it came to me. Pure bliss.

Same with WDW back before FP, yes, you may wait for a large E ticket a couple times a day, but people greatly underestimate the overall negative impact on your relaxing vacation these systems create. The planning, stress, focus on getting and redeeming passes, and the frustrating standby lines that never move.

Honest question. Did anyone else have a better day in WDW with G+ vs visiting with no line skipping in place? Having experienced the 4 iterations personally. I would say FP+>G+>FP>Nothing.
I was able to ride more rides with G+ (park hopping) rather than F+, which is most likely do the fact we never stayed in the bubble and always booked off-site, and got our tickets like a week before. Although for our recent trip in Dec 2021, we got tickets a month ahead bc of park reservation system, but that doesn't affect the availability of G+ selections.

Also, the tier system is gone like in HS, so wasn't forced to book shows to complete the required "package". Like I doubt I would've been able to get a F+ for ROTR or MMRR, for example, the week/day of. I guess you can call that bad planning, but that's kinda how my family and I rolled for all our trips to WDW.

So, I like G+ for its usability, since everything's reset in the morning, but prefer F+ for its cost (obviously lol). Never got to experience the parks without a line-skipping system in place however.

Booking in advance is a big positive....being able to pick return times is also a big positive...........
Wasn't asking about G+ vs FP+. The user specifically stated they prefer FP to G+.

FP had no advance booking and no ability to pick return times. As in the old paper ones you had to visit the front of an attraction to get.

I 100% agree FP+>G+

Very curious, apart from the price and 7am wake up, what did you prefer about FP over G+? Or is the price/early morning enough to move it all the way down?

As someone who took full advantage of the original paper FP, it was great. If you were willing to walk across the parks back and forth (and I was), it was great to be able to hoard them until late in the day, because the CMs usually never gave you a hard time about arriving after the time window.

Paper FP was terrible. It was a poor man’s Genie+. It had the same problems that genie has. If you didnt rope drop then you were out of luck

Question - if we purchase tickets separately as a room only reservation, is buying Genie + day of our only option? I know you can purchase tickets only and add hoppers, but can you add Genie + at that time?
