But if the park opens at 8, don't you kind of still have to be up by 7? Because if you start Genie + when park opens or when in park, people arriving later are still going to have the same problems because those arriving there earlier will snatch up better times.
Yes..........But the big difference is, only the people that are already there (maybe 10-15% of the people for the whole day) have access to the rides....the rest can only book as they get in

currently, EVERYONE that has a park pass and is visiting that park for the day can book at 7am (even if you dont have a park pass and are a park hopper you can still book at 7am)

SO by doing this, it spread's out the demand

and if they also did "drops", it would also spread out the supply

Have you ever thought that's part of Disney's plan with this system. To get people in the parks early and all day.
No, it’s not. The entrance to the parks are not designed for such demand and you increase your labor costs because you have to be fully staffed all day. People who pay for the whole day but don’t use the whole day give Disney more money.

Sorry, but the same that happened with paper fast pass would happen with this. People would get to park early to get the good times and try to get as many rides out of Genie + as they can. Just like how the paper fast passes used to run out - pretty early for the good rides.

Early bird gets the worm. It's just how it is. The only way to change is to go back to reservations 60 days out, which doesn't seem likely.

Having to be in the park to book was why Maxpass worked for me. Starting at DL I would book a Matterhorn FP right away, do the FL dark rides, use FP 30 min later, book Space Mountain for 30 min in advance, finish FL and do Toontown, use my FP, book BTM to use immediately, and then start stacking DCA FPs for the afternoon. Rope dropping gave me 3ish FP I could use in the first 2 hours. G+ doesn’t.

Not if they withheld supply

they could 'drop' 20% of the inventory at opening and scale it from there

But then...wouldn't that upset the people who made it to the park early only to find they can't book any rides until later because Disney is holding rides back for those that want to arrive later?

Hold back what inventory? The LL available in the first two hours the park is open? Save them for who again, the people who won’t show up for 2 hours? Makes perfect sense.

Too many people butthurt here. Disney is going to do what Disney does regardless of how you feel about it. Getting on a forum and griping about it is silly. Even if Disney were reading your comments (and that is not likely) they wouldn't care. We have this disaster of a program called Genie+ that tastes like a turd to many guests and Disney is trying to convince us that it is cotton candy. Nothing can be done about it so....

Well you do know there are drops right now right? Just like there was with FP+

Disney has day of inventory they drop periodically throughout the day (other than MK)...its just not enough

AK drops: 11:01, 1:01, 3:01 and 5:01

HS drops: 9:31, 12:01 and 2:31

Epcot drops: 11:30, 1:30, 3:30

So problem solved ?

And this would be an argument why you don’t want them to be restricted until you enter a park? I’m confused over what we are arguing about.

Well its not working b less than 10% of the days attendance is at rope drop
Curious where you get the 10% from? Also Disney doesn't need 100% of people there at rope drop to make the 7am G+ drop a success. Even if it only bumps 1% extra of people getting their earlier and spending more money, Disney wins.

I do NOT like the 7am drop especially for EPCOT, but from a business perspective it makes a ton of sense.
