Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

When WDW decided to start charging for resort parking there were endless posts objecting to it. I contacted the company (email) and voiced my objection to it. The response I got was they were just getting in line other resorts and hotels. As many have said Disney was always a cut above the rest --not any more. No matter how much people object to this Disney will go ahead because------they can and justify it by --others charge so can we. If you object don't buy it or object with your feet-don't go
Basically a lot of people holding themselves hostage, saves Disney the trouble.

I hear this argument all the time. It makes me think most people don't go to other amusement parks ever. Paid skip the line is every where. My answer is DEAL WITH IT.

Well because you said so! 🤣🤣 the other park also legitimately gives you that paid skip the line dealeo with your rooms that cost half of what the grand flo charges. Your over here trying to preach. Look six flags does it look universal does it look look look!!! Jump any higher man you might bump your head.

In the real world when something stinks people move away from it. The stench being emitted by this ill conceived and poorly designed Genie money grab is over powering. I feel bad for the guest services CM's.
Then don't go to the parks anymore. No one is forcing you to buy a ticket. If you decide to go back to the park after proclaiming the new changes 'stink' then you have no right to complain or anyone to blame but yourself because if you go back you are proving to Disney they can treat you as unfairly as you claim they are and are still willing to give them money. If you truly feel this way stay home. If you buy a ticket then you have no right to open your mouth and complain. Put your money where your mouth is then.

No it was designed to solve the issue of fastpasses being sold out months in advance for the most popular rides leaving nothing for the majority of none resort hotel guests and keep the lines moving. Let me guess, you were one of the rich people I talked about who stayed 10 days at the resort. Well now I am glad you no longer get a free fastpass and if you want one you have to pay. Welcome to THE REAL WORLD where nothing is free.

The only fastpass i couldn't get as an AP not staying on site with any kind of expectation was 7dmt and FOP as well as obviously no ROTR.... thats three rides....your over here making it seem like if you weren't on site you got to do nothing 🤣😑

Its almost like they should have added attractions that scaled with attendance for the last 15 years. Wierd concept.
I'm in full agreement on that point. I was just pointing out that any anecdotal stories about crowds/lines during the time the "Park Passes" were sold out are not reality in the before covid or after covid times. To have waits that low, you're paying for something else, whether it's one of the new options mentioned or a VIP tour.

Priorities shifted. When Pandora, Toy Story Land, and Galaxy's Edge opened, Magic Kingdom wasn't the park that needed dramatic extra magic hours. People like to conveniently forget when Animal Kingdom was staying open until 11pm many nights, or when it had extra magic hours every night for months straight, or when Hollywood Studios was opening at 7am *or earlier* for literally two years.

I’m not conveniently forgetting anything. I used MK as an example, but the extended EMH were certainly used and valuable at other parks as well. The point was that they were a significant perk, and they have been significantly cut back. 30 min early open in every park doesn’t make up for what they’ve cut.

You need to take off your pixie dusted glasses. Disney is a business. The goal of a business is to make MONEY. You do realize Disney was the first to ever offer a fastpass system and they did it for free. Other parks copied them and started charging. bout time Disney started charging. Fastpass ruined stand by lines by charging for it it going to weed out those who don't want to pay and make lines managable again. Deal with it. Or don't. It's happening either way

Unless you are addicted it to it like crack…

No I am keeping it real for all the complainers out there because they need to read this.
No. They don't need to hear somebody griping at them. You keep calling those of us who go to Disney World for 10 days rich. My wife is a nurse at a hospital and I'm a substance abuse therapist. We are by no means rich. We save and save for our vacations to Disney world. Just because we choose to go for 10 days and save our rear ends off it doesn't make us rich. I absolutely hate this new system. And as I've said many times before, if they didn't have Star Wars land at DHS I wouldn't be going back to Disney this next time. Because Star Wars means so much to me in my life (and has since I was 5 years old) I have a very strong desire to go to Disney World and experience this land. If it were not for that I would not be going. And because of everything Disney is doing we are going to choose to spend our vacation money elsewhere in the future. My wife has always wanted to go to Hawaii. That's where we're going to go the next time we go on vacation. Going to Disney for 10 days does not make a person rich. People can complain about this if they want. You don't need to be this condescending toward people just because they are ed at Disney for these decisions but still choose to go to Disney World. People, including you, do things all the time but still complain about doing it. But by all means, you keep doing you. Don't let me interrupt your tirades at people because they're going to Disney world for 10 days but still complaining because Disney is nickel and diming them. 😁

He has a point though doesn’t he? People constantly complain about price hikes or things being taken away but continue to go.

People really need to start voting with their wallets
Yes! The NBA experience went (quite rightly) belly up because people did not participate. Put Genie back in the bottle and let it disappear into the dust bin of history by simply not participating (don't give them your money) and not being quiet about why there is no participation.

Nobody on earth wanted it except Bob Iger, so it was only going to go one way

I don't think there is enough data on the NBA experience. It was open a short time and then closed for the pandemic. There's been enough time that their contract with the NBA might be coming up soon and it's not worth locking up money for something that isn't super popular. People unquestionably want their golden goose egg, and they want it now. So people will pay for rides.

This seems to contradict what you said in the other thread:

Yes. But they also are able to get into the parks 30 min early each day and, if staying in Deluxe/DVC, getting an extra 2 hours in some parks some nights.
Customers have always been able to get into the parks 20-30 minutes early every day, with no restriction on where you lay your head at night.

With Genie receiving in the neighborhood of 70% disapproval commentary, depending on the source, even though it is not fully implemented yet I would say it falls into the "something that isn't super popular" category.

its really simple, Disney created the problem by cutting back on entertainment, built crappy capacity rides, cut parades and events ETC. Now they say they are fixing the crowding problem with the $ grab. What does paying for rides do to change the already broken capacity issue. Not sold, its garbage, pay it if you want, your choice-don't hate ya for it. But bottom line, they need to find a better excuse to "better" the guest experience.

Uhhh what? I suggest you are mistaken. I have been consistent and the excerpt you reference was never part of any of my posts.

Disregard the preview, which is misleading. The link itself takes you to the following post, which you wrote:

”Yesssssss! If it is absolutely critical to your day in the park experience to use FP and pay a charge for that privilege, well, a guest does what a guest has to do. Otherwise the standby line is not always backed up, they do move, usually faster than projected wait times. Also magically sometimes there are no lines!”
