Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

I get it, but remember that the Disney news sources have to stir things up to make money.

The LLs went up by one dollar. I'm guessing the cruise was probably $10k+. Youre getting fleeced far more on the cruise than the lightning lane

BTW - No judgment whatsoever - you get to spend your money on what you want to! I'm just pointing out that stories like "Disney raises lightning lanes to record prices, hurting customers", while true, are also meant to stir the pot and not convey actionable information
It’s not so much about the amount you spend as the relative value of what you’re getting for your money. That will differ from person to person.

Id agree if they moved if from $17 to 39. Then we can complain about what Disney's doing. But a $1 increase on a fastpass that sells out daily before the park opens is probably justified.

The cruise was expensive but only about half that price for 5 days, the major difference is once we’re on the cruise the only thing we’ll be paying extra for is alcohol, coffee, and maybe some souvenirs.

No waking up at 7am hoping to get a VQ, no micro transactions if we want to skip a line, no mobile ordering, no fighting crowds… just relaxation.

There’s a decent chance after we do Princess we may abandon DCL also, the more non-Disney vacations we do the harder we find it to justify paying Disney prices for anything, my GF did a girls trip on Royal Caribbean 2 years ago though and came back saying DCL was worth the extra money so we’ll see. The Ironic thing is she didn’t like RC because they charged extra for so many things she felt like she was always reaching for her wallet, the same problem I currently have with the Disney parks.

Lightning Lane Single Pass prices rise again on October 21:

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train: $14 (previous high was $13)
TRON Lightcycle / Run: $22 (previous high was $21)
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind: $19 (previous high was $18)
Avatar Flight of Passage: $18 (previous high was $17)

Lightning Lane Multi Pass at these parks is also the highest since the new program began (they have been higher under Genie+ though):

Magic Kingdom: $32
Disney's Hollywood Studios: $29
EPCOT: $24

You’re way behind! We’re complaining about the horrible management decisions that led to the paid system in the first place.

Putting everything else aside. Do you really think Disney should have kept FP/Genie/Whatever the new name Free of charge & miss the opportunity to monetize it?

Yeah, I think the all inclusive nature of cruises sets people up for feeling more positive about spend. Sounds like it'll be a great trip.

Take this for what it's worth.

I'm told that if you look at the supply/demand curve for LL, there's tons of room for Disney to increase prices when crowds are above average.

That is, there are still more people willing to throw more money at waiting less in line.

I don't think they'll do it, but it would not surprise me if the math showed revenue maxxed out at around $75 per person per day during the winter holidays.

I think comparing a cruise experience to parks experience is tricky. Yes, with a cruise you don't have to wake up at 7 am for VQ, LL but there's also no attractions at all. But food is included in price you've paid and no micro transactions as you mentioned amd also no fighting crowds/lines.

If you visit WDW, you could treat it similar to a cruise and just wake up, skip the parks and do the same things you would on the boat, ie relax at the pool, eat, stroll around and have a drink sans ocean view of course. If you have dining plan, food would be included similar to a cruise.

I think TWDC prefers these types of guests.

They get the money from the hotel stay and get the money from the dining plan and I bet there is a spreadsheet somewhere in the finance committee that says these kind of guests saves the company costs in the theme parks by these guests staying away from the parks.

Oh I'm sure they do. Especially compared to the guests who stay offsite, bring their own food to the parks and don't buy any merchandise. But they've created more of these type of guests with the constant price increases.

The last decade of administration for the parks have turned it into an ouroborus.
