Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

The simplest answer is to have ALL the rides in the G+ Pool and increase the price to say $50 (or whatever) each. That would give more rides to spread the load AND put enough people off to lower the number of users.(obviously only allowing 1 ride of each attraction per day)....no pre book, no booking at 7am...no booking separate G+ and LL etc etc...just a simple $50 and you can choose what you like, subject to availability and times. You can start booking when the park opens but CANNOT have more than one reservation at a time.

Half the problem they have at the moment is the fact they are taking 2 rides away per park to coin it in with LK+ and so leaving fewer rides for G+ users. On top of that the Virtual Queue ride, which I do actually like that way, but again, it's another ride taken off G+.

I just don't understand why they keep making it more and more complicated.
That won’t work but it’s a interesting idea

Having everyone book at park opening is also dangerous and a bad idea with people trying to get in the parks while on their phones at the same time trying to book things.

Explain why it won't work.

They won't be booking on their way in the car as they won't be able to book until they've scanned into the park.

People are on their phones constantly anyway..be it 7am...park open..during the day. Its no different to now really.

agree, definitely interesting, but also that to have the booking open right as the park opens will create issues with people on their phones while rushing to rope drop a ride, etc.

I do think having both G+ and ILL over complicates things and should be 1 or the other (personally I would do just ILLs, but putting everything into G+ and then charging a bit more is definitely another viable option)

I wonder if they could do just no reservations - just make it more like Express Pass - just show up and scan and you can get in the LL lane, BUT the one per ride version, not unlimited to prevent people overusing it on the E Tickets. Guess would need to start tracking what wait times in the LL are as well

Oh so it’s as soon as you enter the turnstile and not at park opening? That’s even worse in my opinion but would spread it out not everyone doing it at the same time. Plus I guess that would kill the value in people wanting to come later in the day.

I still think they’ll do a prebook. It’s hard to find a system that works for everyone and how they navigate however

it's just that right as the "rope drops" people are rushing about in a mob and to have people trying to also book their first LL while in said mob could be dangerous

What about something like this?

- ability to purchase and book 1 LL and 1 ILL for each day for the length of your trip 30 days in advance (15 for offsite guests?)

- ability to select the time you want for each LL

- ability to book a second LL 1hr after your park “entrance” (and each 1 hour afterwards). App alert/notification when that opens

- can only stack/hold 2 LLs at a time

No tiers. I would also prefer they offer ILLs in G+ but they won’t.

The biggest thing for Disney to do is get rid of all the 7AM decision making.
  • Go back to being able to pre-add G+ to your package.
  • Allow booking that 7AM LL before your check in date - I don't care when
  • Allow a pre-purchase of all ILLs before you check in date - make them like any other ADR
Everything else happens after you actually enter the parks.

If anything, split the day in half like VQs (7AM, 1PM drops) so that you can't book LL/ILL return times until the clock strikes whatever hour you chose.

Only allowing it once you've scanned in in the morning would cause a bottleneck and back up at the turnstiles, because we all know people will stop as soon as they enter, blocking everyone behind them. 🙄

If you make it park open or whenever you enter the park, that "issue" you are imagining doesn't happen because that rush is during early theme park entry and not actual park open. Rush is over.

I think you are over thinking it. Everyone going in to the parks aren't mega park tourers. Most of the power users are probably in the park already.

People are already getting their phones out as soon as they enter the parks to take pictures. I don't think you see much change.

But the early entry folks will be in the park or even on an attraction rushing to book their first main LL. No ideal

It's how Disneyland does it and I have never heard of that happening

There is still the secondary rope drop for offsite. Or else people already in have to time up to night be on a ride for when the park opens so they can be in their phones, etc

Still think not optimal ... Plus for folks that want to sleep in on their vacation there becomes decreased value for spending extra on G+ and those that do rope drop get the double benefit

The problem for Disney in buying Genie when you book your package is they lose out on money as you can almost guarantee with these variable pricing it will cost more day of vs me paying now for my entire trip…

I think you’re missing the point as to why people don’t like the 7am booking. The day of stress of know what you may or may not be able to do and how to plan anything at all. Go back to prebooking and it helps that.

But if they make it like park hoping where it is all or nothing they get people buying for every day of their trip vs only some days

Plus they can still do variable pricing like they know ahead of time the actual park ticket price varies. Maybe they lose our a line in fine tuning the price but I don't think will be a ton, but is certainly a factors to consider

Exactly right
OK.....it kicks in 1 minute after you scan at the turnstile 👍

Unless you're a glutten for punishment, you ain't gonna stand just past the entrance while hundreds of people are running at you.

Also...my way would mean the Resort guests get an advantage as they get into the park 30 minutes early.

My way was prebook and can book your second 1hr after your park entrance. Then you know where you can start your day and have some sort of a plan. Either way your idea and mine hurts those that enter the park later and stack which is why it wouldn’t surprise me if they just go back to the FP+ model. We’ll see
