And likely is going to put them in bankruptcy.
Fracture (internally) maybe... Bankruptcy? No....

They’ll be bought out well before that.
Their market cap is nearly ~$150B, with a valuation somewhere north of $100B. Very few other companies can afford or would be interested in buying Disney. I can see them selling off ABC & ESPN as well as some of their other Fox assets if it came down to it. I don't think it will.

They'll keep Lucas, Marvel, WDAS and the Parks, in a worst case the company is crashing situation. I don't foresee that happening (in general) but at least not for another 5-10 years.

A couple options:

1. MK didn’t sell out and they just said it did to create the perception of demand.

2. They know the change to Genie+ wasn’t received well, so they’re intentionally keeping it lower than previous sell outs to let the fires cool.
Option 3.

With the park at capacity then by lowering the price a little and more people buying, Disney think they can make more money than at the higher price and fewer people buying it.

Considering they were selling out Genie+ during Easter sellouts at $40, that’s unlikely.

The parks are only ever really “sold out” if there are no park reservations available anywhere. Otherwise, they’re just “selling them out” because they want to shift people to other parks.

It wasn't $40, it was $35 over Easter week.

And it was $29 over Christmas week, as I just posted.

Thrill Data has a nice chart.

The only days the price was $35 were: 4/4-14/23.

The second highest price is $29, which has occurred: Thanksgiving 2022 (11/21-11/26/2022), Christmas/NY (12/23/22-1/3/23), 2/18-20/2023, Spring Break (3/12-17/2023, 3/28-4/3/2023, and July 3-4/2023.

It was $27 for 1 day: 6/27/2023

The next price is $25: 12/20-23/2022, 1/4/2023, 3/11/23, 3/20-23/2023, 4/15/2023, 5/30-31/2023, then much of June 2023-July 2, 2023.
It was $24 a few days in June 2023.

This is where genie can really damage the brand. I would be beyond irrate if I paid that for Hollywood studios. I'm not exaggerating, we walked onto runaway rail, millennium, tower of terror, rock and roller, and midway mania. 30 minutes for slinky, and 15 for RotR. No joke, we had ridden pretty much everything in 3 hours. Oh, and walked into Oga. Haven't done magic kingdom, but I'm genuinely shocked by how low the crowds are. But if I had jumped on and bought genie this morning and all it did was maybe cut 20 minutes off the wait time for slinky, I'd be really mad. It's not like they don't know how slow it's going to be with reservations.

Listen. Im not condoning upcharges but if you are on vacation and you can afford the extra money which there are plenty of ways to do so why wouldnt you want to get Genie+? Its not like these are walk on wait times at all. Why wait any length of time if there is another option…

Yeah, an hour of park time costs ~$12. Just skipping Pirates, Space, BTMRR, and Buzz would be 2:20 skipped our ~$28 of value

(Plus waits grew during the day - even if still rather low compared to the past)

Well, everything at AK and DHS is walk on at those times outside of the two that you get upcharged on top of genie plus. The problem is a lot don't realize it. He'll, even RotR we waited 15 minutes on a 40 minute posted wait, and much less than that before the merge point

Everything Walk ons at 11am?!? I find that hard to believe that anything is a true “walk on” with the lack of capacity they have now but no way i can prove that. Even if i saved 15-20 minutes per ride to me its still worth it especially in the heat. Plus gives you a better chance of re riding attractions as well if you choose to stand in line for those lesser wait times and combo with a Genie…. Just my thoughts on Genie. Yea it stinks that we are stuck paying for something that use to be free and a product that imo is worse than what FP+ was. (Huge fan of pre booking and never had issues getting what i wanted and also getting additional quality ones in the parks) But hey if you rather wait in the “shorter” lines as opposed to paying more power to you. Disney is not cheap no denying that but again neither are other places. Was just at the Shore for 2 days to celebrate the 4th and after room/food/rides/games cost a small fortune lol.
