Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

No…That’s “counter Disney intuitive”…

You pay more for the “privilege”

Upsells are a slippery slope. The customers slipped down it long ago.
It was true when they first allowed you to pre-pay it, or at least the same price because there was no variable pricing at that point.

Both result in a mess.

It’s about capacity and how that manifests each hour/day.
Prebooks didn’t work. So let’s go ahead and try to run through the wall again, eh?
At this point all we know is that at least some guests will be able to pre-purchase it (assuming the code in place remains and is switched on).

If they restrict the numbers then I can see them allowing pre-booking for some guests, perhaps as a way to incentivise staying onsite.

Curious, if I go to say Epcot today and buy G+ for there but then later decide I want to go to MK for the evening and use G+ there as well. Would I have to buy it twice or is their an option to pay the difference to later upgrade to multi parks?

As explained last week…you have to buy both and then go to pest services to get a refund

But that HAD to be a joke?

Ooooof. Once again, you have to plan. plan. plan. We park hop but sometimes things change and the thought of this makes me want to buy it less or only buy for the second park. I don't know how rookies plan a Disney vacation anymore. I can barely keep up and we go often.

The bigger problem was letting guests have 3 a day to start with.

At least outside of MK (I believe initially there was discussion of allowing more preselected FP+ at MK than the other parks) - which led to the tiering of attractions which was super annoying

If they go to something where you can preselect your first LL when you buy G+, maybe 1 week ahead of time, I think that would be good. Maybe let resort guests do it for their entire trip while off-site has to do it 1 day at a time (sort of like how ADR booking works now)

Frankly this is a bit dissapointing - if I'm going to have to pay for it I'd rather be able to pay in advance and budget for it versus randomly getting hit for a different amount each morning.

Definitely is easier to deal with when just bundled in with the cost ahead of time vs having to make that decision and payment each morning as the start of your day

Few things to make G+ better:
  1. Pre-purchase G+ with a WDW vacation pack (like you used to be able to do) like hoppers
    1. Imagine having to buy hoppers the morning of based on park demand? lol
  2. X days prior to your vacation you can book 1 attractions via G+.
  3. Resort guests can book their 2nd G+ the day of at park open from anywhere. Everyone else has to book once they enter the park.
X has to been at least a week or so prior to check in because a day or two prior to check in is just one more hassle to organize on top of everything else people do right before they start vacation (packing, traveling, wrapping up work etc.)

They've offered 1 before.
They've offered 2 before with FP+.
They already do a version of 3 with ILLs and resort guests.

Would make the system better AND add more perks to staying on site.

We know how they solve them. Disney knows how they solve them.

But they have their heads buried so far up mickey’s bum. Gonna be an interesting next couple years at the parks with no new net attractions opening
You mean with the largest park in Orlando since Epcot (dak is bigger…but more of a technicality because the safari is massive) about to open in Orlando?

“Hey Bob…you didn’t open anything big in your ENTIRE tenure in the family tourism Mecca…how’s that taste, Napoleon?”

…Anyway…

I’m gonna put this on record, so the 5 Bob defenders in moms basement don’t try to “zing” me on it when it happens (all 5 are undoubtedly lurking here…and they’ll do it anyway 🙄)…

Disney will announce “big new plans” for wdw this summer/fall. Little doubt of it. @marni1971 can chip in his take if he wishes…

But it’s just to make the announcement. I’m expecting grandiose plans with no specifics timeframes. Because Bob is gonna try to twist slaphead’s “blue sky” debacle from last year and make it more tangible…but still non-committal. They have zero desire to spend. They thought stretching out the construction just ending for 15 years was plenty…and they actually end up losing ground to competition in the end. Brilliant.

But they need the pub. Need to try and create the illusion of not being feckless. So get ready for the show at SycoCon…or whatever investor symposium Bob hangs out at (hopefully one with an open bar)

Get ready. But the problem is when you slap “coming soon” on every wall for 5+ years - while trying to hustle after hours tickets on the old stuff - they have eliminated their response capabilities.

I'm trying to not ask for too much, but yes. lol

Given the system currently, you can always modify the time to push back.

Might I introduce you to the Elephant in the room?
