Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

Yeah you did it once... and then were a slave to it...

but you still had to decide if you were park hopping, still had to do it early, etc etc etc

I'm not saying this is better... but to hear people upset about choices they have to make... choices that Disney locked in ages ago and now just parade around under different guises...
It’s not better and it costs a lot.

Again though, under the current system you pay top dollar for G+ no matter what. Only go to AK that day and the longest line is a 5-minute wait, oh well, you shelled out $20-$25 a person because you thought you may go to MK later. It's happened to me a couple of times.

Under the new system if you buy the all-park version, it is the EXACT same as right now. You can still end up in a situation where you didn't need it because you didn't end up hopping to a new park.

That is the part I don't get. Why be upset because we might be in a situation that already happens with the current version? How is it any different? How is leaving it the same going to improve this particular problem?

The buying for one park, then deciding you want a second park, upgrading to the all-park version and then having to hunt down a refund is the only downside to this new system and it is something they are going to need to address eventually.

If it happens often enough, they will be forced to shell out the money to eventually automate it as that will be cheaper than dealing with endless guest recovery.
Because the single park price isn't going to stay at $18. (or whatever it is on June 27, 2023) In the very near future, the AK price of G+ will go up.

G+ was bad enough as a surcharge, but what we NOW call G+ is suddenly G+ PREMIUM. Now the lesser one-park G+ becomes "normal G+."

It is a little like what WDW when they changed form all park tickets being hoppers to MYW (where hopping was an extra fee). It wasn't long before the price of non-hoppers went WAY up AND the price of the hop add-on went up.

It is also goes along with the reason coffee shops sell 3 sizes of drinks. People often choose the medium without thinking, just because it is the medium.

Not long ago G+ PREMIUM was $15. every day.

Fast pass + was an operational failure and that’s why they killed it.

Yep…bait and switch. Price hike while they confuse the interface…again

The answer to #4 will likely depend on if you have a 1-park-per-day ticket or park hopper tickets.
That's one input, but it also depends on WHEN you want to hop, because the LLs run out. If you're hopping right at 2, selection is limited anywhere by MK, but there may be something worthwhile (i.e., that could save you time) available. If you're doing the hopping after dinner thing, there may be none left. So you'll have paid for the PHG+, but have no LL to snag after you hop.

If you have a one-park-per-day ticket, and have your mind set on stone on one park, come next year when reservations won't be required for certain tickets, and you buy G+ for that park, that's fine and dandy.

Best way to drive revenue (short-term) is with prices and upsells.

Reading between the lines they are expecting Genie+ sales to be a big contributor to their revenue numbers and they are seeing Genie+ sales suffer for the lesser parks... so what do you do? Make it so you can pump the sales of G+ in those parks by lowering the price without risking the normal G+ price.

They are trying to drive Genie+ to 100% customer adoption and probably found single-park visits at the parks where G+ has limited options suffering.

The tell here is they are pushing simplification and yet made the solution more complicated with this move. That says this move is about pumping those G+ attach rates and the free money that comes with it.
Gonna be tough to drive revenue with their occupancy and attendance figures.
I hear…that’s it’s really ugly.

Never thought I’d say this…but I don’t trust their numbers forthcoming.

Their invincible 😉.

My question is what ever happened to all that talk about making it easier for guests.
That was all crap

What it did was feed the egos of their backbone/loyal parks customers…

They like to feel special and Disney knows that

“Sure I am paying double what i did a couple years ago for the same or less…but only I can afford it! My neighbors back in Nassau county are stuck at Coney Island!!!”

I don’t know anyone who thinks like that.
