When we went to LP, the shuttles there were by reservation...at least for the first few hours. The shuttles back were on demand.

I would still follow "Disney Parks travel times rules" and allow an hour to get anywhere.
Oof. An hour feels so long. Especially if we want to be back on the ship by 3:30/4.

But good to know the shuttles going back didn’t need reservations.

That was our experience in January as well - Reservation for the ride out to LP, on-demand for the ride back to the ship.

And if you have first dining and need a shuttle, definitely follow that advice!

Were your in-laws able to get a shuttle back? Did you have to reserve a time for that as well? We’re headed to LP in June and I’m worried about my folks (in their 70s) and my kids making the long trek. Especially back. It’s pirate night that night and we have the early seating for dinner so we need to get back on time. Hard to plan…
As others said it was first come, first serve on the way back. I think they waited less than 5 mins for the shuttle back and for sure beat us walking. They thought it was great and also loved LP.

We were on the Magic cruise from Galveston to San Juan that stopped at both Lookout and Castaway. I can honestly say I liked Lookout more than Castaway. The beach is very amazingly beautiful. I loved the more natural feeling of everything there. Disney did an incredible job with this new destination! And I really like that they did not try to make it Castaway Cay 2. Its a totally unique destination. Can't wait to go back and see it again when more of the vegetation has had time to grow and develop.

You know what's funny?
I have not been to Lighthouse Point yet but I am still surprised about the praise it gets here. I see a lot of boring buildings and the main focal points that don't come close to the renderings they shared. Looks like they didn't deliver on the finishings that would have put it over the top.

I'm sure it could be better, I certainly had issues with the transportation. However, I don't think boring buildings was something I ever thought of during my trip to either island.

I understand that the first image is concept...but come one, all the detail and depth that makes it look good was removed in the actual. That arch is straight out of my kid's coloring book.

We found the buildings themselves kind of bland but the beach and surroundings are stunning. We had plans to see the Junkanoo band, check out the play area, explore the craft area, etc but we ending up shopping when we first got to the island and then hit the beach, which we didn’t leave except to eat and walk to the lighthouse.

The island itself is the draw, the boardwalks are well done, the food was good, etc but ultimately nature is the selling point. It reminded us of Waikiki, but without the chaos and skyscrapers.

We head straight to Serenity Bay. Ignore the buildings, characters, etc. I personally have no desire to be “immersed in Bahamian culture”. I’m there for the beach and the water. Food is so meh, nothing special at all. I really want to see what happens when the foliage fills in.

We didn’t meet any characters either but we loved, and took photos with, the character based photo backdrops, a nice blend of Disney with some touches of Bahama style.

I think the buildings looked great. Very unique designs that really fit well. And the boardwalks are nice too.

That said- the real appeal is the beach. The water is just so blue and the sand is soft and powdery perfection. I could just sit there all day long and watch the waves.

Yeah there is no way in the world that is happening. They would have to completely reconstruct the pier they just built.
Agreed. They didn't want to have the "environmental impact" of a moderately wider pier when they built it, and this is what guests have to deal with now. Many will recall initial maps/concept pieces that had a tram route to the pier, with a turnaround. What could have been...

Add inn a way for the tram it make it all the way to the boat... I think that ship has sailed though...
That would be nice but we found the walk enjoyable, a few sunshades/canopies would probably resolve 90% of the issues.

We were surprised how many golf carts were running back and forth, we wondered if they’d added more carts since they were so frequent. Works but seems like someone getting ran over eventually is inevitable.

I wonder how expensive a separate set of pilings for a beam would be, just run a light airport style tram back and forth on it, no need for a big turnaround and it would separate the walkers from the tram.

Looking on google earth... I learned 2 new things.
1) The pier that no one likes is called "Bob Chapek Pier" which seems very fitting
2) Princess Cays is (Princess cruises private Island) is less than 2 miles north on the same island. or ~7min drive

It’s not really called that. Just something someone did on google maps.
