Let's talk travel insurance...because you never know...

Kelly, this is such an important topic!! I agree that trip insurance is often an important (and relatively minor) expense, and I hope Chandler is feeling better soon. As I sit here with ice on my knee to soothe an irritated ligament...I can't kneel, and gardening season is about to start! Doesn't compare, but the point is, you just never know what could crop up. I'm sure you've opened the eyes of lots of WDWMagicers to this.

I will have to go to insuremytrip.com to see my options. In reality, we knew on booking that her MS could flare up, but there are other concerns then just an MS attack. We have a wheel chair and I have two sister and their family that will be there also, so we will have support. She has had MS for over 25 years, so we know how to live with it. I want to make sure we are covered in other areas that may come up and need to learn more about the options. We have gone to DW and never needed insurance, but this seems so different. Thanks for the advice.

Thanks, sweetie. He goes in for a procedure/test early in the morning so hopefully we'll finally have some idea what we're looking at. So much on my plate right now...it truly is a Godsend to NOT have to stress over the loss of so much money. The peace of mind alone is worth every penny I paid for the policy. :)

I sure hope everything works out okie dokie.

We opted not to get insurance. Yesterday I had an experience that could have had an impact on our trip in 7 days.

I was in the yard working, and this thing was crawling on me!!!!

Kelly, I've been following this thread and glad to read that your son will be alright. It's scary when something like that is going on with your child and you're not sure what it is. Does this mean you'll be able to go on your cruise? I was counting on having another one of your trip reports to read ; )

Yes, it's looking like we'll be able to go. He's improving and the Gastroenterologist thinks it'll be another couple weeks for a solid recovery. I'm a bit more cautious than that. He fell down the stairs on his backside over 2 weeks ago and he's still unable to sit or walk too much at once. He's got 4 and a half weeks to be able to make a 16 hr drive then handle the go-go-go of the cruise. We may or may not need to reconsider the Xrail off-road vehicles thru the jungle. Right now I think that would kill him. LOL! Definitely would be thrilled just for him to not be in so much pain (which he has to avoid pain meds to manage because of the digestive side effects). Just so he's well. The cruise will come either next month (probably) or some other time. ;) Thanks for thinkin' of us. :)

Huge lesson in all this. Uncle Jerry (going on the cruise with us) busted his tailbone a few years ago. The kids found it funny to smack his behind and pick on him. Well, Uncle Jerry reminded him of that and offered to come over to show him how it felt. Chandler almost cried apologizing. Lessons learned. Empathy is important.
