But really. What's with people getting so worked up over a word like "asshat," anyway? I hear worse every day. I SAY worse every day. We're all adults here. I think we can handle a little bit of swearing.

At the risk of beating a horse that died long ago, it wasn't just the use of those phrases. I use saltier language in day-to-day life. It just seemed so out-of-place here. When I opened the thread, I was not expecting such a vehement rant. And the use of those terms just felt crass. If this were any of the other boards I go to, I would have just ignored it. But I really don't expect to see this sort of thing here.

If that's Kelli's thing, more power to her. I've stated my personal preference not to see that sort of thing here. She doesn't seem really receptive to the opinions of those who didn't like the post and that's her perrogative. She should just understand that some people will bristle at this sort of thing at a Disney message board.

Oh for the love of Pete, enough already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kelly, from here on out if you are going to vent please think of those whose delicate eyes cannot handle crude & vulgar words. Maybe put a warning like: ***WARNING - I MAY USE THE WORD DOO DOO OR ASSHAT IN MY POST***

Looks like what people use for spoiler alerts and will calm down people who are easily offended.

Lebeau - you're right, that horse died a long time ago. And it's been typed so many times today, the name is KELLY. You have an obvious lack of respect for me anyhow, so no, I do not care what your opinion is. You and your little gang is "holier than thou" anyway.

Gucci, I will say that next time **I may say poo poo and stinky in my post** Thanks for the hint!

Kelly, my apologies for the typo. I seriously meant no disrespect. And I didn't mean for any of my comments to be taken personally. I was just taken aback by your post - it wasn't what I'm used to seeing here.

The only reason I posted that further elaboration of my reaction was that someone asked what "the big deal" was. So, I answered.

Again, nothing personal. No disrespect intended. :)

Take a deep breath and count to 10..... I agree there are alot of people who don't get it, especially in my family, but I don't call my family assclowns. :)

actually, that is quite funny!!!

Thank you Gucci! :)

I do not have to justify myself to any of you nor do I need to "watch what I say" in a public message forum so as not to offend the uptight and ridiculous.

If you don't like my post, the way I talk, or my choice of words, then you do not have to read them. Simply see that I posted something and say "no thanks". But I will not be censored by any of you.

Who the heck do you think you are?? And why do you feel this incessant need to slap my hand for having a potty mouth? I've seen way worse terms used in this message board before. And I was using them as a joke, not intending to be hurtful.

If you were hurt, that's not my problem. Go scratch your mad spot! :) Plenty of people liked my post or support my opinion. Now take a deep breath and GET OVER IT.

WARNING to Kelly: This is not completely supportive. You may not wish to read it as you don't take criticism very well.

You're a sensitive little girl, aren't you. You said it yourself; you have a potty mouth. There are tons of public message boards around. I just felt that anything revolving around a love for Disney should be a bit above gutter talk. I am not 'holier than thou', just looking for some good taste. For this, you have labeled others 'uptight and ridiculous'. Now it's your turn, GET OVER IT.

Thanks SpenceMan! And good luck on your honeymoon, I hear Disney takes "very good care" of couples wearing the wedding ears or pins, just FYI ;)
Thats going to be the FIRST thing we do when we get there!!

ConstanceIrene,

You couldn't have chosen a better avatar. She fits your personality perfectly. I don't think using that term constitutes a potty mouth. And I don't think not taking kindly to uptight, rude, and insulting "holier than thou" (don't act like it if that isn't you) mean people in a chat blog constitutes being a "sensitive little girl". And I don't think 5 posters whining over and over again about a term being used that they didn't like to read really constitutes the "majority" of this message board. Again, if you don't like something on a PUBLIC message board or you can't handle racy language like assclown  , then maybe this board isn't for you. You seem like an uptight witch to me and I'm pretty sure that in all the tales, she meets her demise in the end. Now be gone before someone drops a house on you. :lookaroun

personally, i think that 'asshat' is one of the greatest words in the modern lexicon

seriously, this is a forum for intelligent discussion by adults, i'm not advocating gross obscenity or explicit imagery, but i think that a little "colorfull discourse" can be tolerated

Little girl, you are one who said you had a potty mouth. I was quoting you. Again, you don't take criticism very well, do you. Whining? You appear to have written the book on the subject. You call me an uptight witch because I disagree with you? You don't know me. All I did (and I was not alone) was request that you clean up your act and use words more suitable to this message board. Obviously, that's beyond your ability. So, keep your potty mouth and look nastily upon others who don't think you're the cutest little thing that has come down the pike.

By the way, have an apple, my dear!

Spence! I almost didn't see you. Just wanted to say that in the World of Disney shop in DTD they have these awesome bride ears. Instead of a beanie it's a headband with iridescent (sp?) sequins and a little veil. Very classy lol I have one and I love it. You should get one for your fiance, she'd love it! :)

No thanks, my mom told me never to take food from bitter old hags with no sense of humor. I said assclown. I don't think I need to "clean up my act".
And why would I have to "take criticism" at all? Again, who the heck do you think you are? Get off your thrown assclown. Take a vacation or at the very least remove that pole from up your tushy.

Thanks Dixie :) I like the term too, it's a riot! I expected some people would be miffed at my use of sarcasm. Wasn't quite expecting it to be the same 5 people over and over, but yeah, they need a vacation!! lol

Oops! You're resorting to those words again. You're calling names. Tsk, tsk. Mickey would not be very happy with you. In fact, he'd have to wash your mouth out with Mickey soap.

You know Kelly, you're in for a tough time during your engagement if you're going to get so upset with people who don't think everything you do is perfect. Weddings are hard enough to plan. The stress level is high and you, as I did, have to deal with extended family members. That makes things even harder. You and your fiance look like a nice couple, but your mouth betrays you. Lighten up. You told me to get a life? I have one, thanks. It's a good one and, no, I'm not a hag or a witch or the other name you called me. I've been around a couple of decades longer than you and I remember when I had the short fuse that you have now. Life is short. This thread took too much of both our time and energy. Let's let it go.

For the record, I am a major Disney fan. My family only gets to go once a year because I will not take my daughters out of school. We go in August, so there is no chance that yours and my path will cross. I happen to like Florida in August and field all kinds of questions and criticism for going during the hottest time of the year.

If you can refrain from any more name calling, we can call it a day on this catfight. It is the civil thing to do.

You know I was thinking the same thing...

If the word was really that offensive...this post would have been taken away by the modorators. Obviously, they see nothing wrong with it...so I see this whole conversation about whether or not these two words a moot point.

I like how you're trying to pretend to take the high road here... let us not forget that my original post was not to offend yet you came in and attacked me. Not I you. And the name calling "little girl" was started by you.

I will agree to disagree and call it a day. We both have far better things to do with our time.

Again, thanks everyone who didn't take me so seriously. I love Disney and I don't love the naysayers and I know I'm not alone in that feeling :)

Someone actually posted "Anyone else not into Disney?" to which over 20+ people replied as to why their kids will never go feed the corporate giant that is the Disney Co. and why they hope "to God" that they never have to set foot in Disney World in their lifetime.

Those people will realize they missed an opportunity to have fun with their kids at a level on which it would be very hard to do elsewhere.

My wife and I are taking our two sons (and my parents) to WDW this December. My parents haven't been since 1977 and my boys have never been. My wife and I have been once together and six times total before we'd met (5 for me, once for her). I hope this trip will be a chance to have fun that transcends the three generations of men in our group. The last time my dad was there, I wasn't much older than my older son. I just wonder if my dad will remember the time that stood out most in my memories of that trip...him taking me on the Astro Orbiter (or whatever it was called in the 70's).

Anyway, people that hate Disney World may have other issues for which they need to seek professional help. Heck, my wife is a licensed family therapist. She'll help them for $50/hour and pay for our next trip!
