I'm shocked there's no thread discussing this yet.

To quote our favourite Star Tours pilot, "May the force be with the Miami Heat!"

I was wondering if the reason he made the televised announcement in front of a group of kids at a Boys&Girls Club was to prepare the kids in that area for a lifetime of sports disappointment, or if it was because if he made the announcement in front of adult Cavs fans, it would have lead to a riot.

"The Decision" as it's referred to was done in Greenwich, Connecticut. Why? Who the heck knows...

It was the site of a basketball camp of some kind and a very short distance from the location of a wedding he was attending today.

If it were in any city he was possibly going to a riot would have started when he annouced the Heat.

All I can say to the Miami Heat is good luck trying to win with three great guys and nine guys making the league minimum. I'd also like to let them know that I'll play for half the league minimum. :D

Half? I will play for a tenth! It would still be over 500K!

Living in Cleveland or Miami, real hard choice.

Remember though, he grew up in Akron, not far from Cleveland. He's used to the weather, the people there practically treated him like a God and Cleveland really isn't that bad a city overall. I've visited a few times and the folks there have always been very nice, there's a lot to do there as well. By choosing to play in Miami, he sends the message that he wants to go where he has the best chance to win a Championship or two and not that he feels it's a nicer place to live. Besides, LeBron's place is in Akron, not Cleveland.

If the Heat win a title now then Wade is Jordan,Bosh is Rodman, and LeBron is Pippen. I think LeBron is scared he can't win a title on his own like Kobe has. I was also reading on ESPN that the Cavs ended up turning it into a sign and trade deal and got 2 1's and 2nd round picks to help fit it in easier under the cap. At least the Cavs got something but sadly the Heat's picks will be late picks with those 3 on the same team. LeBron in my view took a hit to what could have been a legacy as the best had he stayed and helped Cleveland win the title.
