Not only am I sick but my DH and DD are too! All of us have head colds. I started with a stomach virus last week.

We are hoping that everyone is better before we leave.

Has anyone else had the same happen?

Hope you are all better by the time you leave, but, you have something to make you feel better, your going to WDW!! :D But if you need to see a Dr. while there they have a service to take you to one and then drop you off at a pharmacy if you need, then take you anywhere afterwards. My wife had to do it with our older son one year and then the next year for herself. VERY convient!! We leave in 7 days. Oh by the way, I'm just getting over a very bad cold, and I'm feeling better as we get closer, because of the excitement. CAN'T WAIT!! :sohappy:

We went WDW earlier this month and my son got strep throat a few days before we left. Our pediatrician started him amoxicilian, but it wasn't until a few days into the trip he started to feel better. We have another trip planned for January and I am praying everyone stays healthy. We had to cancel a trip to the World last March due to an ear infection.
I hope you all feel better soon. Try and have a great trip!!

Get to a doctor ASAP and gets some medications!! Don't let your vacation become a time for healing---WDW is time for FUN and being CONSTANTLY on the run.

And, if you're flying to WDW, a head cold and airplane pressure are not a good combination, but you probably knew that.

Nothing is worse than feeling sick on vacation! I agree with another poster - go to a doctor NOW and get on meds if you can. A head cold is bad enough (I got mine the day we arrived down there) but a stomach virus is worse. I felt like a zombie for a couple days - but luckily we were still able to do everything we wanted. You may just need to take it slower and spend the afternoons by the pool or in your room to relax - don't push yourself! I lived on alka seltzer cold meds, which are awesome and didn't make me drowsy.

If your DH and daughter do get the stomach virus -- I wouldn't go or postpone it a bit. I felt sick enough with the head cold but when I'm sick I prefer to be at home - not :hurl: in a strange room away from the comforts of home! I'm assuming most people are the same way.

Good luck and hoping you all feel better soon!

Every time we go one of our party gets sick. We just make sure that we are no longer contagious and have a great time. My feeling are that I'd rather be sick at WDW, rather than sick at home. Hope you feel better and have a great trip.

My daughter got sick ON THE WAY DOWN once. We stopped and got meds but fortunately hers was a 24 hour bug and was gone by the end of the first full day there.

This is pretty much common sense, but remember to REST, GET LOTS OF FLUIDS, and FIND SOME TYPE OF COLD MEDICINE THAT WORKS FOR YOU (I prefer Dayquil and Nyquil) until you leave. If you rest up for 3 days, you should be feeling much better by the time you leave. But of course, that leaves the question: If you are resting, who's gonna pack? I hope you all feel better and have a fabulous trip!

Vitamin C is your friend. If you don't regularly drink plenty of orange juice, now would be the time. It helps your body's systems flush out various bad things and recover from a cold much more quickly - and helps you split out mucus (thus getting rid of extra bacteria/gunk in your nasal passages and throat).

Seriously, Florida orange juice does wonders if you've only got 72 hours.

Hey, don't worry! The same thing happened to me right before my high school band trip to Disney World. Normally when I get colds, they last for 1 or 2 months (yuck!) Needless to say, the day before we left, I was very upset because I knew I would be sick for the whole trip.

But honestly, when you're in Disney, you forget all about it. I had so much fun; that was the best trip I ever took, and by the end of the trip, I was almost all better. Can't guarantee the same for you, but I hope everybody in your family gets better!!

Not sure if it's the same thing, but a couple years ago the wife and I were heading out west on a coaster safari when she came down with a cold/sinus thing. She went to a doctor and he gave her a "steroid cocktail" injection. She was fine within hours and made it fine through the whole trip.
Might wanna look into that.

Just remember everyone wash your hands. For us locals we don't want to get sick. With so many people I wash my hands all the time while in the park.

Hope you all feel better and have a safe trip!

My daughter got sick the morning we were leaving in December 2003. It was a mess though. She started vomiting at 5:00 am and it did not stop until the next day when we were back in New Orleans. I felt so bad for the poor people riding on the van with us back to MCO. She was using an empty souvenir bag as a barf bag. It was horrible!! We were just so thankful it started on the very last morning. Hope you all feel better!

We just got back and this happened to us. The week before we left my family each visited a doctor...head cold that would go away...turned into pneumonia for one of my kids and an ear ache for the other. Fortunately, antibiotics worked fast on the pneumonia and ear ache, and we were ok. But it was a little stressful trying to get ready to leave for a trip while dealing with sick kids....and being sick, too. Everything worked out fine, though. We had a blast...now we just have the "back from vacation" blues.

As for flying..drink of lots of water before, during and after your flight...use Afrin or other nose sprays to help unclog head congestion.
