Le Cellier Prices Gone Up Again???

Le Cell looks like Golden Corral compared to this "on property" steakhouse:

Yes that is also an awesome steak restaurant. It actually is one of the top in the US. It does not mean LC is not up to par. A place does not have to look that fancy to serve delicious pricey food. The LCrestaurant looks is designed to fit in with the country of Epcot it's in and also it's in a theme park so it will never look like that. Lol. If we want a fancy atmosphere we leave the theme parks and head to the resort restaurants or off property like this one. Both are excellent restaurants to us. That's in the Waldorf/Hilton twin hotel so yeah you expect it to look like that. We stay at Waldorfs or something equivalent when not in WDW and that fits in nicely there.Great off property restaurant especially if celebrating something special. We love both restaurants.

But Le Cell is in that price range. If I am paying above $50 for a hunk of meat, 1. It better be damn good. Which I have found Le Cell not be. And 2. I'd prefer not to seated beside Honey Boo Boo's family covered in theme park funk wearing sweaty t-shirts, cut off jeans, and flip-flops.
Le Cell is fine for that demo, but the prices are way out of line for the product. I would put the value of the Rib-eye/ atmosphere of Le Cell at $32 max. So Disney would/should be charging $39 since they always have exceeded my expectations in terms of pricing.

That is a very good list but my #2 would be Le Cellier. Haha Seriously though that is some excellent choices.

I should say, I always enjoy eating at Le Cell, but I have found their meats to be just OK, and it is becoming over priced. But I love many of their other choices. Their Cheese Soup is legendary. And I really like the ambiance (minus the other tourists).

Have you been since last fall? When we went in December they talked to us quite a while about how they had just switched the meat supplier in Canada they get them from to an even better quality meat etc. They explained it in detail about it but I don't remember the specifics. My DH noticed a difference in his Rib Eye from the trip prior. That might explain the recent price increases this year. If you have not been after late fall 2012 maybe go back and try the steaks again.

The interesting thing about Spencer's is that it's actually a internal Hilton chain and it's been uniformly good at all the Hilton's i've been to - Being a Diamond member I've been to more than a few...

Ohh Diamond haha I'm a Gold member. We like I mentioned usually stay at a Waldorf in the bigger cities and smaller towns without a Hilton or Waldorf we will do Hampton or HGI, so I have not been to Spencer's yet. We will have to give it a try if we are around one the next time.
We are going to Chicago next fall and we may stay at the Waldorf or The Conrad, or Trump tower. Too many choices!!! Lol. We are a bit spoiled and like staying in suites. Lol

Agree - The meat is overpriced for what you are getting, Sometime try Sodolak's in College Station TX ZERO atmosphere great steaks, Or for the best steak ever anywhere Murphey's in La Grange TX

I'd vote in this order for hotels in Chicago Conrad, Waldorf, Trump, All great hotels any you will enjoy all of them.

There is a really good Spencers at the Hilton SEA-TAC if you are in the area.

I'd vote in this order for hotels in Chicago Conrad, Waldorf, Trump, All great hotels any you will enjoy all of them.

Thanks! I am leaning more towards Conrad so that advice helps. Waldorf and Conrad prices are pretty equivilent. I will be booking soon as I'm an early bird and will just rebook later as the prices go down as they usually do as it gets closer. .
Oh did you see my post a few posts ago about LC changing their meat supplier late fall of last year? Just some info for those who have not been since before late fall 2012.

This is true. My husband and I are going to Florida to spend Christmas with my parents (they're down there for a few months) and we decided to take a 2 day stopover in Disney.

The 2 day tickets without park hopper were $391.88. My soul wept. I still handed over my credit card though. And bought Xmas Party tickets. And made 3 ADRs.

And made a mental note to drink my weight in margaritas at La Cava.

There is something deeply wrong with me.

Those r normal prices for a great steakhouse the problem is it is not a great steakhouse.

I'm jumping on the bandwagon here and saying I'll not eat at Le Cellier again. I used to Love the place but after my last steak dinner not so much anymore. Tough steaks, tables too close together, prices getting too high for the service and food. It's just not worth it anymore. What a shame that Disney restaurants are pricing themselves out of business.

I find LC perfectly fine but nothing more, it goes in the category of Longhorn, Outback. While LC drowns their steaks in sauces a great steakhouse doesn't require that to mask the flavors of well aged meats.

Coming to Chicago I highly recommend Morton's on State Street, the original Morton's. My last steak there this year I could cut with a fork, knife not needed.

My favorite steakhouse that also has the finest seafood accompaniments is Bob Chinn's north of the City of Chicago in Wheeling. Their steaks are all prime aged, paired with their out of this world crab, yum, their Garlic Rolls are addicting and nobody makes a better Mai Tais, *slurp*.

For suites I vote the Astoria. Very elegant.
