Beta Return
It was only a brief test a while back. No attractions were doing it as of last weekend.

Edit to Clarify: I SHOULD have said no RIDES were doing it, which is what most people were concerned with.

The rides are not partaking in this, but BOG still is. They hand out passes and about 20-30 minutes after they r sold out and BOG is now unavailable to anyone literally an hour or less after the park opens for the day. What's worse is people reporting on how the restaurant isn't busy at all and there r even rooms that r almost completely empty!!! So stupid! Idk why they would want to make less money, I mean this is Disney. It doesn't make sense...

This is exactly what we experienced last week. We had a FP+ for BoG at 12:00. When we arrived there was already a sign saying the restaurant was done for the day. Once we got in the restaurant it was virtually empty. It stayed this way the whole time we were in there too. Very very odd. Disney isn't one to normally walk away from money so I couldn't quite figure out why they weren't filling every seat. Is it a shortage of CMs? Doubt it. Lack of facilities? Nope. They manage to serve much more elaborate meals for dinner without a problem. The only thing we could come up with is that it has to do with the unnecessarily complicated ordering system. It's clearly the weakest link in the whole BoG experience. It's slow, people don't understand it, and I'd say about half the people ordering need CM intervention to complete the process. I thibk if they allowed the restaurant to get to capacity every day the line just to order would be insane (example, what it was before they started the paper Fastpass thing).

Solutions: Make it table service all the time. Eliminate the touchscreen ordering. Simplify the touch screen ordering. Expand the amount of kiosks to place your order.

Wait what about Princess Hall and Legend of Jack Sparrow at DHS? Aren't they still using it?
Jack Sparrow was definitely still using it as of Tuesday afternoon. We walked by around 11am and they were all gone. Not positive about Princess Hall but I can't imagine they stopped that. The Frozen Sing a Long was using paper FPs but the availability for that was fine. We walked up at 12 and got tickets for the 1pm show. We didn't know we had to get paper FP for it otherwise I would have gone over there earlier in the morning.

Jack Sparrow had already been using it long before the tests at MK and Epcot. When I was there in early June, this procedure appeared to be pretty much the norm. I haven't heard anyone say anything else about pfth. Now I'm curious too.

Has there been any recent developments on this, the absolute dumbest decision in the history of mankind? My wife refuses to go to WDW next summer if this procedure is still in place. Quite frankly, I'm kind of with her.

FP+? Works good, I like it. Drawback is scanning EVERYONE during extra magic hours, it can get backed up at certain attractions and the one time the line did move quickly. They have to get a new way to fix that (short wave scanning? I don't know what it's called...).

The OP was referring to a system that was being tested at pfth and Soarin recently where guests would get a return time on a ticket instead of being allowed to wait in a standby queue. Once all return time tickets were gone, the idea was guests would be turned away. There were several days when guests complained enough about not being allowed in line that the standby queues were reopened, causing even worse than normal wait times and even more angry guests. It was a hot mess, according to multiple counts.

Jack Sparrow is still using it. At 11:42 this morning I was handed a ticket granting me admission to the 11:45 show. One cast member handed me the ticket, and then I literally walked 50 feet only to immediately hand it off to another cast member.

Lol!

When we did it, we had a return time of about two hours later, but this was in the evening when the park had gotten a little more crowded. I don't doubt that your experience is the norm before lunchtime.

When I was there a few weeks ago - some attractions at MK they did not even scan bands. While waiting in line for Space Mountain there were several families who were not staying on property that got to ride.
