Indiana Jones Adventure - Rumor - (3/18/05) Screamscape sources tell us that plans have apparently been drawn up to remove the Indy Stunt Show and replace it with the Indiana Jones Adventure style ride from Disneyland. From what I understand the ride building would fit perfectly, though there would be a lot less room for queue space compared to Disneyland.

hmmm... even taking into consideration that it's from screamscape - i still have to say that I think this would be a change for the better... or a major overhaul of the Indy attraction - but as much as I like the idea of another great ride... The shows are still what does it for me at MGM - other than Coaster and ToT - I enjoy walking from show to show - it really makes the park interesting - I would hate to see it overrun with too many "rides" and end up seeming very Universal like...

Universal-like with the rides, maybe.. But still 1000 times better.. I am not too fond of Universal.. Mummy is good, not great like I expected.. Hopefully, if Indy is put into Disney Studios, it is done right... This has the potential to be another awesome addition for the Studios.

That rumor has been bouncing around for a while. It was also suggested that Lucas wanted the stunt show to stay and expand the Indy ride out into the parking lot. It was also suggested that Lucas wound not allow the Indy ride to come to MGM if it was at the expense of the stunt show. I would much rather see the stunt show stay, maybe redo it and have the Indy ride built behind the stunt show and Star Tours. Personally I’m a little tired of new rides coming at the expense of old ones.

Well, the Indy ride would replace a stunt show, not another ride. And now that another stunt show has opened it might not be a bad time for the change. Personaly I think the Indy ride would attract more visitors to it than the current show.

Is there really a point to having two stunt shows in one park? If one was a different park I would understand. Even with the differences between the two shows, I could only handle one stunt show ina day. I would love to see the indy ride in WDW. The studios don't have enough medium thrill level rides anyway. Only star tours is there now, and if that ever goes down for a major refurb there would be nothing for someone who can't handle TOT or RnR.

Two stunt shows is OK, but I would rather have the ride. Now if they could also put a copy of Journey to the Center of the Earth in the old 20K spot in the MK I could die happy.

Yes, there is definitely room for 2 stunt shows at one park. First of all Indy and LMA have almost nothing in common. It would be like comparing Splash Mountain and IASW. I could understand not needing 2 shows if the other stunt show was something like Tomb Raider. Also shows stunt or otherwise, are great for parks because they remove 2 to 3 thousand people from the park 1-2 hours thereby freeing up lines at the other attractions. I have always thought that one of the best ways to clear the congestion in Fantasy land at MK would be to add a big production show that happened 2-3 times daily.

I think the writing is on the wall for the Indiana Jones Stunt Show. A park which is as meager on rides as Disney MGM currently is, really cannot justify having two huge stunt show ampitheatres. I would be surprised if the Indy Stunt Show does NOT get shut down within the next year and a half. I don't know what ride will replace it but Disney has been in full clone mode lately so I think the Indiana Jones ride/Dinosaur type is a very heavy favorite.

why wont you guyss tell me when indy temple adventure is coming????? thats all i want to know i think it will come in 2006 but we never can know disney is planning!!!!!!!

-ahem-
what? oh, sorry, not sure what came over me.... anyway
what are the current crowds like at the Indy Stunt show? I remember the first few years it was open it was packed every time, but i haven't seen the show for about 4 years. How many times a day is the show currently being run?
personally, I'd like both attractions to remain open

I think its important to note how many of us have stated "I havent seen it in......" Yes, Its a good show, but its not on my list of "things I have to do at MGM" or "things I wont leave WDW without seeing". It would be kinda sad to see it go, but if theyre going to replace it with something worthy, then yes, I would have to accept (gladly accept :D ) change.Maybe not another "Mara" theme Indy ride, but maybe another adventure/theme. If its even half as good as the one in DL, then my butt will be in that que everytime I go to WDW. The indy over there is on my "must see".

Yea, I agree, partly. I like the stunt show at WDW, but it's not something to where if I didn't have much time, I would probbably not see it. I do like it though. I like to see how they do all the movie stunts.

I'd have to agree with Yoda, here. I am a HUGE Indy fan and would love to see the ride added to the show. The last 2 times I have seen the show it was very full, almost to capacity. And with the 4th movie release sometime in the future, it will probably become even more popular.

I have no problem with keping the show...I love it. But, if I had a choice I would Pick the ride. the park desperately needs it. Both would be fantastic if they could actually fit it between the stunt show and startours.

I just think its not right to have a theme park where the shows outnumber the rides...as great as the shows may be.

Why not? Shows are more along the lines of what Walt had intended, attractions that keep the family together. I love thrill rides but my three year old can’t get on them yet and I love going on rides with her. Part of the reason that we don’t get US AP is because there is very little she can do.

This seems like a win-win situation. If the show stays - good, it's a great show. If we get a ride instead, awesome - I love rides! I am happy either way.

I think the problem may be with the entire formula of what makes a good theme park. Prior to Walt Disney.... the phrase "theme park" never existed, now we have imitators that have changed the image of a "theme park". I think having both the ride and the show would be what Walt may have wanted, but given the option to "clone" something would have made him just as happy. Disneyland and the original Disneyworld were very similar to each other from day one much like a "clone".

Shows are important, but rides are less frequent then shows. I can see a show at a local high school, maybe not a good one, but still a show. Rides are rarer and in my opinion the best reason to visit a park.
The rarest are animatronics shows.... those have there own look and feel too. Indy is just a show... its good, but a ride could be a better use of the space.

I'd have to say the "stunts" in the Indy show are way outdated, and not near as impressive as they were when the show opened. People aren't as easily impressed as they used to be. The attraction, on hte other hand, has an amazing re-ride-ability, making it a better fit, especially in that area of the park.

MGM has plenty of Movie Studio type attractions as it is with the Backlot, Millionaire, Lights Motors Action, and other "walk through and look" type attractions.
