Last supper

Earl of Sandwich both times!

That was going to be my plan as well.

Wine and Dine really didn't count because that was a night race, and we had a kitchen full of food at my DVC unit (I think I had shredded wheat and some granola bars)

But for the Marathon I am staying at PO:R - I was going to take the boat down to DtD and get an early sandwich at the Earl. Quick, easy, familiar, and pretty well balanced.

I have no idea what I'll eat before my race, but this is all I can think of from the thread title:

I thought the thread was a bit out of place and should have been in the Religious section of wdwmagic, but then I opened it.

I usually have a Moe's "Joey bag" with just rice, chicken. No cheese or ranch or salsa. No chips either.

Welcome to Moe's! I'm a fan of the Art Vandelay meself. :slurp:

When we go for the marathon in 2012, we're going to the Pasta in the park party before the 5K and then we'll either go to Marrakesh or the Wave on Friday night before the 1/2 marathon because I know that I can safely eat at either of those restaurants and the food at either one won't upset my stomach.

Dont get me wrong, I like to card load the night before with an early dinner, but I also think to myself that whatever I eat the night before will most likely still be in my bowels then next morning. I guess that is why I stay away from the heavy carbs and stick to the simpler carbs.

That might be all mental, but if I had a pasta dish the night before, I can only imagine that it would feel like a brick in my lower abdomen the next day. I know, call me crazy.

Just munchin around Epcot. But for the 2011 race we'll be dining at Le Cellier pre-race, sans alcohol.

Post race is Narcoossee's, without fail.

I'm actually surprised the resorts don't offer a basic pasta dish the ngihts beofre the race. The All-Star Resorts actually have a good, cheap pasta dinner. Olivia's at OKW used to do a really good penne/with spinach and grilled chicken dish. Now, I stay with family at Kidani Village and we just make pasta in the room.

I've actually read mixed things regarding the whole pasta the night before a race. The idea originated, not with carbs (or nutrition) in mind, but becuase, it is a simple, cheap, dinner that is easy on the stomach and can be prepared in mass quantities (pasta parties). The more I read, the more people were saying that eating carbs the night before doesn't do anything to aid your performance.

That is what I have read as well. it takes about 24 hours for the food to get through your gut and become available as food energy. What you eat for dinner the night BEFORE the night BEFORE the race is where your food energy comes from.

Thanks Lukaseven.
I was also surprised that they don't offer any Pasta Parties other than Thursday night. It is probably something I would have participated in if they held it on Saturday night.

I'm flying in to Orlando on Saturday morning and staying at one of the ALL -Stars resorts. Not going to be going to a park on Saturday, nor do I plan on renting a car. Unfortunately my options for on-site dining are limited.

I'm looking for some good suggestions at some of the other resorts or Downtown Disney.

It is touch to hit Epcot and not get a beer at Mexico or a nice glass of wine in France. There is always post race though. :D

Check out Portobello at Downtown Disney - they have a fair amount of pasta dishes and it's easily accessible from your resort. Also check out Il Mulino at the Swan (I'm actually going there Saturday night). If you're looking for basic pasta - the food court at All-Star has some decent options.

I'm going to check out the menus on-line tonight. I really like the idea of just being able to chill the night before the marathon.

Thanks!

Your from Jersey.

Half a dozen (real) bagels in a vacuum sealed bag in your luggage and some cream cheese from the food court and you are good to go.

Seriously - bagels will be coming with me.

The first year I did the marathon, I stayed at All-Star Sports. They actually had bagged breakfast available the night before, since the food court doesn't open until after the busses leave for the start line. I believe for $5, they gave you a bagel, cream cheese/peanut butter, a banana, and a yogurt. And they had additional breakfast items for purchase, as well.
