Heading to CBR for the weekend starting Thursday night? Any last minute tips for this resort? We are eating at Shutters Friday night after we watch Illuminations from the pool :)

Have you confirmed Shutter's hours? It opens late and closes early. Not sure if you'd be able to do it after Illuminations from the pool...I would confirm this.

Which building are you staying in? If you haven't requested one, I'd recommend asking for Aruba or Jamaica "near the bridge". The front desk will know what you are talking about.

This is one of a few places where you can buy a coconut post card (yes, a post card that is a coconut). The other place I know of is Poly. You can buy one, fill it out, and mail it to a relative. Unique "hi from the world" gift! You'll find them in the Gift Shop.

Try the PinaColava from the bar.

Trinidad North and Martinique are now Preferred, so you will only get them if you have paid for that room type. Aruba and Jamaica near the bridge are the next best option without paying for Preferred.

You will only be able to see the highest level fireworks for Illuminations, but you will be able to hear all of the others. We found the best viewing from the beach.

Be prepared for the many internal bus stops within the resort.

Thanks for the tips! I was looking on Google Earth and we may even watch the fireworks from the Barbados parking lot! Heehee

I don't know how well you'll be able to see illuminations from the pool, but I'm guessing you won't see a lot. CBR is adorable and was my favorite mod before they Nemoed all the rooms.

Hope you enjoy!

When the CBR first opened it was pretty easy to see a lot of the high shooting fireworks of Illuminations but the last time I stayed there in 2006 it was very difficult to see any. I wouldn't bank on seeing too much of it. CBR is a great resort though, haven't been back in awhile. We have been trying different resorts and staying at the Pop because of the cheaper price.

I did it in 2010 and 2011, and watched the fireworks both times from the pool, no issues. It's certainly not like being there, for sure...but, for a quick and interesting thing to do, it works.

I echo the advice: Ask to stay in Jamaica or Aruba, close to the foot bridge. Take time to walk around the Resort, it is such a beautiful and peaceful place. I prefer the water views of Aruba, but Jamaica has a more convenient bus stop. Aruba's is kind of a walk.

Dolphin is cool. It deff feels like a hotel, instead of a Disney Resort, but it is conveniently located and has some nice stuff. The pizza at Picabu downstairs is better than Disney's by far.

And if you have kids...see "how high they can get" in the Dolphin's main building frame. The views are really cool. You can take an elevator up to a certain floor, but then you need to take staircases the rest of the way. It was a fun "game" my sister and I played in the past. We could never get to the tip top window, lol.

You can also buy the coconut postcard in the MK. The Adventureland gift shop has them.

Thinking of stayin at CBR Oct '14, would love to know more about the resort. My boys r obsessed with the pirate rooms and want to stay here really bad. They also like that the pool and kiddie area are pirate themed as well! Anymore insight on this resort would be much appreciated!

Also, had anyone's kids here done the pirate cruise at this resort? Details please...
