Large Piece Falls off Monorail - Being Evacuated

Why have folks gone full on Chicken Little?

I think there is broad consensus that the Monorail has suffered from age and periods of bad maintenance and is overdue for a radical overhaul or replacement. Folks have previously mentioned how customized the WDW would need to be from beam width to train length and train height and that nothing 'off the shelf' currently fits.

In my opinion, the autopilot process seems to have accelerated the aging process.

With that said, a breakdown doesn't mean the entire Monorail system is going to fall apart or that the beams are suddenly going to collapse.

Now you're just being pedantic. How about addressing the other questions I've asked you.

Just had to drop (pun intended) in with a post from the beach where I am taking a much, much, much deserved break from the insanity of the Disney and UNI fan communities.

Safety concerns have gone back well over a decade. I had rails CMs tell me about issues they were having getting management to wake up that the system was old and the trains were falling apart. To put this in perspective, this was years before I started posting here. We all know what happened in 2009. Unfortunately, I have the memory of riding the train on which the CM was killed just hours before it happened.

Now ...here we are with this incident. I'm posting because of something I'm pleasantly surprised no one has focused on (unless I missed it in skimming ... not reading nine pages while I bask in these golden rays) and that is the guy who could have been killed had the piece hit him was attacked on Twitter for talking to the media AFTER he alerted Disney officials and after they grabbed the piece and rode off (apparently on bike) with it. You don't ever leave evidence behind, right?

But who is stirring it up? None other that noted blogging and general lowlife Robb 'I have no record either' Alvey who apparently felt the need to attack the guy and do damage control in a way Dr. Blondie can't. I guess the fact he has taken (taken being the key word) groups on trips to Disney parks in Asia, which he has touted on his site, and been rewarded with free trips for things like the Pandora opening means his quid pro quo kicked in and he needed to do the dirty work. The sleaze just drips off some of these people. He is at the top of the list. But at least he is doing his corporate shilling. When's the next junket? Oh wait, he must be a VIP for D23 next month.

This IS just one part of what's wrong with Disney. Monorail parts are flying off and Disney bloggers want to attack the people reporting it. Oh, and, sorry to the kids here who may not believe it, but this is news.

I'll leave y'all to your bantering ... I'll return ... sometime well after D23, so I don't have to slog through the droolfest that will be once the Star Wars model is shown. Happy Summer 2017 y'all!

Silly people, lightning doesn't strike at WDW.

No one has said that WDW doesn't get lightning. Yes, its the tallest object within a huge radius. It will get struck. How often does it get struck was the question. But of course, you won't answer that. If it was really as big as issue as the two of you are trying to make out, then there would be thousands of videos of it happening.

Oh - and the monorail would get struck all the time too, because its out in the open and elevated.

Meanwhile back on topic

Monorail yellow is parked at the Epcot station and the line is shut down. All guests are being transported to TTC via busses.

Btw, the photo that was taken was just in front of the ADA parking which is not far from the station. Less than 1,000 ft I'd say.
