Land Being Cleard for New Park?

What would possibly make your first conclusion be that they are building a new park? Disney can't staff the property already; there's no way they could staff a whole new park with the 10,000+ people it takes to run it.
Something tells me staffing would not be an issue if Disney did decide to open a new park. Money speaks volumes to Disney. If they thought a new park was warranted and would be financially beneficial, they would find staff. They could outsource from contracted companies if needed.

Oh and try not to be such a prude in your posts, it is very unbecoming!

Yeah, and then Disney as we know it would be ruined.

I promise you'll get over a stranger on the internet being 'prude'.

Disney can't even justify finishing the Pop Century resort with the volume of guests that they have now.

Until there are significantly more guests, there will not be a fifth gate. At the moment it's completely unnecessary. They need to focus on finishing Animal Kingdom and updating EPCOT Center. (WoL Pavilion, anyone?)

Actually that's from one of the wild-fires on property last year. The smoke was so bad World Drive closed several times.

New Park?

I was speaking to a guy who used to work for the Disney University and he told me the next park should be opening in about 2015 somewhere in between Epcot and MGM. He also intimated that that Disney are looking at possibly two new rides for next year but he wouldnt elaborate. He also was telling me that more and more attractions will be built off site and just shipped to the park and pieced together. I think he said the new HP land at IOA will be done like this.

He also said that AK would be getting a lot of attention over the next few years. It will be interesting to see if he is right or just another 'know it all'!!!

If I was a betting man I would go with the "know it all".

While 2015 is a pretty safe bet for 5th gate, if it happens at all, the location would not make much sense. Epcot and MGM are all but across the street from each other. There is a good size patch of land between MGM and Victory way but I can not see WDW building yet another park with no room for outward expansion. The most plausible rumored location for a 5th gate is along the new Western Way.

And MGM needs alot of love too. Even with TSM on its way, MGM still lacks rides and imo needs some of those desperately.

No offense, but this is quite literally the most inane thread of the month, I'd have to say!

(just because though the title alludes to alleged ongoing land development, the photograph doesn't show one cent's worth of human activity in the area! )
Sorry to be off topic but SirNim, where did you get your avatar. I love that picture.

Didn't Disney already announce there would be no new park any time soon?

Would Disney announce that they aren't building anything?

8th October 2007- Walt Disney Company HQ:
Today, in a press conference held at Disney's headquarters in Burbank, California, Robert Iger (CEO) announced that they wouldn't be building a new park anytime soon. "In addition", said Iger "we will not be building Beastly Kingdom or the second half of Pop Century, and we have no plans for anything in the place of Wonders of Life or 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Furthermore, we shan't be expanding our properties overseas. Just to let you know what we're not doing." Following the news, forums devoted to Disney (notably WDWMagic.com) all shut down after every single topic was debunked at this conference.

Disney University is simply where training new CM's takes place. No one there would have any more 'know' than anyone else. This guy is just pulling at strings for attention.

I'm afraid what you saw is a very well-disguised cell phone tower (not kidding). There's a similar one near the Grand Floridian.

why can't we want a new park?

what makes you so perfect to say that we shouldn't want another park at WDW? what is the "wrong" about it? I am amazed at the arrogance of some of the posters here, who, basically OWN THE PARKS AND THIS FORUM.

New Park? NO you are a fool for posting.. Monorail, whether the footers have been there for years and years, NOO.. You are a fool..

New ride? NOo... you are a fool..

you know what. SHUT UP.. let people post that they would like a new park, or 20K or monorail expansion..

So you don't want it, or you don't think it will happen.. NOTHING WILL HAPPEN IF YOU DON'T ASK FOR IT EITHER.. I would be that this forum has at least SOME AFFECT on the management.. Someone from there reads this thing..

when you down play a new park, ride, what ever, you also hurt the chances of it happening.. People here start screaming for any of the above, and maybe the bean counter years are going to end..

But if you pay for status quo, and support status quo, THAT'S ALL YOU ARE GOING TO GET IS STATUS QUO.

that's the truth.

oh and since attendance was very high this year, how can you say, that the attendance was NOT enough.. :brick::confused:

and just how much more will attendance rise if a new park DOES open up..

somewhere there is this balance and when the balance tips.. things have to change or go down hill. meaning that they have to add rides or a fifth gate, or people will STOP COMING. if nothing is new, then the dollars stop coming in.. and if the dollars stop coming in.... then the parks go down hill.

its a balance.. and somewhere deep inside the brains at disney the sand is falling.. and its going to signal change sooner then later..

why because its time.. that's why..

or start to back up in traffic, profit, and quality..

so don't rip people for wanting progress.. not going forward, is going backward.. especially in this type of industry.
