Actually, The 1st was the last day for The Land. They started gutting the building within 1 hr. of closing on Sat. night. The only people working on the 2nd will be F&B cleaning the food court.

Wow, amazing. RIP Fountain. :(

What we have been told is that:

Top floor will not change, Boats will have only minor changes, no new boats, but spiel will change some, nothing firm on what the food court will look like.

I just got a PM saying that the Land's balloons have been removed.

Does anyone have any further information on this??????

Thanks

Just got off the phone with my dad. His response: "I feel like my heart's been taken out."

DETAILED INFORMATION ABOUT BALLOONS: on page 3: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=47961&page=3

They are definately gone.

Fake balloons make your dad's heart go? Boy, that's melodramatic.

When I was on a tour there this last Wednesday I was told that the food court would be changed to sell more upscale food at an affordable price and that escalators would be taken out in favor of a ramp system that is more handicapped accessible. They were painting the ceiling a light blue. Our guide said the balloons were originally put in as the Living with the Land ride was originally suppose to be a dark ride where you were seated in a balloon and then went through the greenhouses.

No, sir. His heart didn't go. He's seen a lot of magic lost at Disney, and he's been a big fan of the Land's atmosphere. To hear they were being taken out took away some more "magic," as we did go in December while the Land was in somewhat of a state of disrepair, but he's delighted to hear they may be returning with even a better design.

Why? Because they were nice.

Welcome to the boards!

The original balloon concept goes way back, predating Listen to the Land and EPCOT Center as it was. One attraction looked at for the original Land pavilion was a gondola ride up to ceiling level, where guests could look out a rainforest. The pavilion shrunk, but the balloons stuck - minus the guest carrying capacity.

So you are admitting you a jut a pawn to your father's whims ? :D

I honestly can't picture Grizz and Senor Grizz galavanting together in the parks, for whatever reason. :veryconfu

Kevin, we usually go as big family groups. Papa Grizz doesn't go too often, but Disney's had a special place in his heart for a long, long time.

P.S. apparently the balloons are now VIBRANTLY colored with reds, blues, etc. Very "airy" "geometric" designs, I'm being told. . .

I think many of use would pay to see a photo of this troop. And then I would use it in a new avatar.

Much to your delight and chagrin, I suppose (on the balloons) :animwink:

They were definetely very vibrant. I saw like three of the balloons, but I couldnt ID 2 of them, just the winter one. From what I saw, the colors seemed very rich, but from what I could tell, not gawdy vibrant, but a very much needed vibrant  .

On another note, the balloons are much larger than they seem! The balloon was just as tall as the guy painting them, and its not like the guy was a midget or anything :animwink: . Hopefully they'll turn out all right.

Sometimes... in the morning.... after dropping a deuce... I cry. I think back to the good times. The times we spent together. I hate change. Why won't the food I ate yesterday ever stay with me forever????

My heart breaks and I am left a hollow man.

Do we have any actual visual confirmation that the balloons are gone? So far, all I can glean from this thread is speculation.

Yes. I am a CM and i saw, less than 2 months ago, the balloons had been taken down. Also all the brightly colored banners which lined the walls from the ceiling. So now its just a big blue room with no decoration on the ceiling at all. Sorry no pictures or a link but this is my visual confirmation as a CM.
